You have top pair, bad kicker. Now opponents range could be very wide especially at this level so I'd make a bigger raise on the flop instead of the min raise and if it is called I'd be done with the hand. As played the 6 was a bad card for you but you are still behind KJ, flush and any 4 so the AI call IMHO was bad.

Hi custo, really interesting hand to start off with. Not the usual AK, KK AA stuff ;).

Firstly, I rarely get involved in a raising battle on the flop when it's a limped pf pot. As Jilly says you have tpwk here, after the flop bet, if Im r/r then I'm done with the hand tbh. There's still a lot out there that beats you even in a limped pot, K7-KJ, 44 etc. The fact that a 4 hits the turn, probably get's u thinking that at worst your gonna split now b/c you have 2pr so you continue with the hand. Just fold on the flop imo.

Generally I'm not completing from the small blind with this hand, especially withouts any reads or having built a solid table image. You're going to be OOP with a weak hand, just save yourself 1/2bb and fold. I know it's only 1 cent to call but look at the potential cost of playing a hand like this OOP.

I don't mind completing the small blind *if* you have the discipline to fold top pair, and play this hand for 2 pair or better.

At this stake level, I'd like to see the hand played out like this:

Dealt to Custo80 [Ks 6s]
auntiris: folds
Quikone007: folds
slonyatko: folds
Sly Mongoose: calls $0.02
Custo80: calls $0.01
ObStErR: checks
*** FLOP *** [Js Kh 4d]
Custo80: checks
ObStErR: checks
Sly Mongoose: bets $0.12
Custo80: folds

Unless you flop a serious monster, there's no sense in going broke in this pot. Play this hand for a flopped flush, trips, or 2-pair. Any less, and there's no point in even continuing, since you just can't put villain on a range since you're in a limped pot.

I think it's ok to call from the small blind here, you might have the best hand preflop since the button didn't raise (here you actually did). Raising pf is a bit too loose tho. On the flop you played it fine, I think you could have gotten away from it on the turn or river though. Remember you never want to lose a big pot when you limped in, but that doesn't mean give up on top pair so easily, just be able to let it go if there's a lot of betting (like in this hand)

first of all, without the initial pot-sized bet, sly isn't going to bet 0.12. he might bet .04 or .06. second of all, when he does that, check-folding is really bad. it's him vs. the blinds, who have a range of almost any two cards. once both blinds check, he has license to fire with anything. if you're checking, it is certainly not to fold to a bet. i think betting out is fine also, if not better

as played, when he minraises, it's kind of read dependent but you can possibly fold right there because a) he might have a monster, b) you're out of position and c) if he's making some play, he's probably going to continue on the turn and you really don't have enough to keep calling him down. as played, i'd check/fold the turn

I play alot at these levels and do pretty well. At the micro limits, you need to be very careful about the hands you play preflop. K6 from the small blind is usually a fold for me...you are way OOP.

That said, if you decide to take a look at this hand you still have to be cautious. When I hit the top pair-bad kicker from early position on these micros I will usually check it. If villian checks behind you, you are most likely ahead at this point. If villian bets behind you, you have 2 options - fold or raise - depending on your read of the villian. If you raise make it a small raise and if he comes back over the top get out fast...you are beat. If he calls you can reassess at the turn and either fire another shot at the pot or just check it to him and fold to his bet.

The point is that you are OOP so you need to respect any bets behind you and play very cautiuosly.

^^^ Thats exactly the kind of stuff i was going to say. I would have been willing to fold to the min raise, since unless villain has a habit of doing it, min raise = monster 80% of the time.

As for the hand, I also wouldnt complete from the sb, but once you have, i would check that flop. Ye ok, youve hit top pair so you have your showdown value. You are not involved in the pot so there is absolutely no scare card that could fall since you dont mind laying it down. I would then probably find myself check calling to showdown and especially not raising river on the basis villain didnt fear the 2nd 4.
