you could have folded K9 preflop... AK is one of the standard villain hands here, bad situation to get in

yeah personally i would not even have called with the K9, even in the Sb position. Especially considering you were one of the "smaller stacks" at the table.

please, please, please fold this preflop. After that its just a bad beat.

As said, standard bad beat but there is no way you should be calling a 3 1/2 BB raise from the SB with crap like K9o.

Yeah, listening here and elswhere tells me I fold the K9 preflop against the raise. And honestly before last night I had a nice run going tightening up my play, keeping my bets modest until I had the nuts, and FOLDING when this voice inside my head told me to (as I'm learning the game, I am finding it important to listen to that voice).

But damn if it wasn't one of those times you just decide to play and hit a really nice flop.

Oh well.

Anyway, I killed the guy later with a nut flush ....... he went all in with the K.
