I think he is donking with a flush draw and probably the turn too ... but by the river I am starting to question it.

I don't see him playing a set of 4s or 5s like this.

Weird line. pretty hard to put him on a hand.
Seen him make any spewy plays, show down anything bad or seen how he's played other hands?

Don't think a set would be played like this. The odd two pair or floated K beats you. you beat missed FD or SD's. Do you think a player of this level could play a FD or SD like this though?
If I was playing normally i'd be inclined to put him on a K, but the flop play makes this less likely unless he has like K4/K5

if you think he's donking with a FD on the turn, why didnt you shove?

I was thinking with what I have left (half pot) he would call, and it gives him the opportunity to bluff the river on a non diamond.

So you think he would call a turn shove with a fd but you still didn't shove?

I thought about shoving the turn, but decided to just flat and let him bluff/bet the river with a weak hand.

Why? If he's calling a turn shove with about the same range he bets it with then there's no point in letting him bluff river. Also it we don't shove turn we could be making a mistake by calling the river if he hits two pair or a flush etc

Good point.

I was having a hard time deciding if I call the river, and probably should have been thinking more on the turn what action I should take there.

I think its either a straight or flush draw that missed or a slowplay set. I would call since I think your top pair is still good. I think a reraise on the turn could have gotten you more info on the strength of the opponents hand though.
