This is 22 hands into the game.

I have a total of 27 hands against 7_chops_7, and he VP$IP 56%, and he folded *every* hand after this win, so his VP$IP was much higher at the time. I didn't do the math, I think it was 70%. He only raised pre-flop once, UTG, and nobody called.

Shotgut is a better player. 26% VP$IP over 120 hands, and pretty consistent, so it was about the same at this point. PFR = 19%.

I am surprised you didn't bet the flop when you had position.

At this point, I don't think you can fold. The pot is pretty big compared to his all in, I think you call and cross your fingers. I can't see another set pushing here as they'd be afraid of the straight also. 89 or 88's would make the most sense in this situation, but I wouldn't be surprised if he showed J8. It be hard to let this one go.

I am surprised you didn't bet the flop when you had position.

I wanted an Ace to hit the turn.

Anyway, my trap got me trapped, but I saved myself a little:

*** RIVER *** [5c 7d Jh 6s] [4h]
shotgut: checks
7_chops_7: bets $7.35 and is all-in
SvgePenguin: folds
shotgut: calls $7.35
*** SHOW DOWN ***
7_chops_7: shows [8d Jd] (a straight, Four to Eight)
shotgut: mucks [Qs Jc]
7_chops_7 collected $34.95 from pot

Raise way more on the turn. As played I think we can call enough since a confused Jx or two pair will shove this occasionally (in my limited 25nl experience), but folding is fine too if you're not sure.
