SB bets $12.55 and is all-in, Hero ????

turn raise left me with roughly 8$ behind and plan was to get the rest in on the river , until the worst river card that could come arrived 8x, 9x now beat me but are hard to see in his 3bet range , albeit a min 3bet so could be 78s 89s9Ts but still some overpairs as well that he may be over valuing.

Always hard to know the meaning of those min 3-bet and I would just assume he's a bad player and find a call, if he has something like a8s or a sc, be it. He could call you with an oesd or flush draw ott for all we know, he's bad enough to min 3bet so...

Edit: he bet quite big on the flop on a drawy board, what does that mean... Protecting his overpairs or betting hard with 78s...I'm confused.

Personally id have raised turn and got in stacks on turn

Villain is a definete fish and that river cards so ugly and nasty... if vill raised bigger pre then we could see this as a bluff but yeh i think we get counterfeit too often and its one of those harsh painful folds

Im only going by his preflop small raise... its fishy so hes bad enough to have 8 or 9

You played this perfectly, this is brutal variance, do not feel bad at all. You were right to fold the river.

so as you can see , i called using the reasoning that he could bluff shove the river with his missed straight and flush draws and possibly with overpairs and was discounting his 8x to a certain extent because i thought he'd probably have reraised turn to charge straight and flush draws in my range to see the river.

I wasn't happy with the situation though and expected to lose quite often but only needed to be good roughly a third of the time for it to be profitable call. Hence posting it for other peoples opinion.

Nice call... so the odds was the main reason on the call? No other factors??

Just shows how good a spot it can be to bluff at when whiffed. Pretty ballsy of villain to shove after ur raise.

I guess often when people raise higher stakes it means they dont have it and he didnt put u on a book

Guess we had a good bluff catcher.

I guess theres 1 worse river card and thats an 8

I would have put him on 9 10... That was a good call but no idea how you could tell...

Bad sizing pre means polarized i guess and bad players do bad bluffs or have more bluffs in their range

Well I would always fold there. In long run I truly believe this is what is a brutal situation where I've been outdrawn and am minimizing a hit. I have no idea how he could confidently read that as a 10x hand that wasn't hitting the FH and would only even consider calling here if this was a tournament already past 'mid-way'

my initial instincts to call were right regarding this obvious bad player. Happy to see it

You are trying to put him on a specific hand , i'm putting him on a range of hands that he could play this way then making a judgement about how often i win against that range and compare that to the pots odds to see if its a profitable call or not

Looks good except is raise bigger on turn.

Flop i believe is close.

Definitely like the river call and your reasoning behind it.
