Just needed a reality check here, would you guys have played this the same way? When he raised on the river I said out loud 89? Would I usually be ok going for value here or should I be more cautious in the future? I thought he could have paired his K, or have other 2nd best hands and only one hand beats me.

Fold pre.

If you must play it then at least raise pre.

It's a negative ev hand that is much better to play with multiple villians than attempting to isolate. If you knew that the SB & BB would play without raising, then your calling the utg limp from the btn wasn't bad.

Bet more on the flop and turn. Take note of his extremely weak hand from that early position and start exploiting his wide range in later hands. Pretty easy money from those kind of players.
