After V bet the flop I was considering a reraise but given that he had a high AF, I thought I could get him to bluff his A-x type hands on the turn and I could consider a re raise there.

After turn came a 6, I didn't see the point in reraising as to not rep a straight.
I didn't really see a 4 in villain's range either.

The river was also another scare 8. Again, didn't see a 9 in V's range which barrels both flop and turn so called it down.

If he didn't have a high AF I'm not sure I would have made it to showdown.

Hello, I play this hand like hero. It is very good situation with set on the flop against fish. We are in position. This opponent play very big size bets and I don't see reason to play raise on the flop or on the turn with probably the best hand. So on the flop and on the turn I play only calls. In this situation fish can play this hand with two over cards like AK or AQ. For me we have too strong hand to fold. Even if fish has some straights I probably never fold set against fish. For me the board seems to be safe. Only marginal hands win with hero, like 89 or T9 that catch the straight, but it isn't too possible. Good game, Gl :)

Your cold call preflop is nasty: we are not calling for setmining when we don't get the fair price: we should be calling here when Villain raises 3x at maximum.
You are paying 4 blinds to hit your set one out of 1/5? 1/6? sometimes 1/8?
Are you sure it is profitable? I said setmining, because even in position 77 will not play very well on most of boards.
Luckily for you the MP player is the massive whale and got things done for you. And of course, luckily for you to hit a set on a board that it would be very hard for you to fold OTT (when you do not hit a set, because the turn is good when it opens a gutshot).
