888Poker Snap, Hold'em No Limit - $0.01/$0.02 - 6 players
Hand delivered by Upswing Poker

UTG: $2.38 (119 bb)
MP: $0.64 (32 bb)
CO: $0.91 (46 bb)
BU: $2.07 (104 bb)
SB: $1.00 (50 bb)
BB (Hero): $1.01 (51 bb)

Pre-Flop: ($0.03) Hero is BB with 6 9
2 players fold, CO calls $0.02, BTN calls $0.02, SB calls $0.01, Hero checks

Flop: ($0.08) 9 9 Q (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO checks, BTN checks

Always check here unless I have better kicker.

Turn: ($0.08) 3 (4 players)
SB bets $0.06, Hero calls $0.06, 2 players fold

Raise here looks very strong and worse Q may not continue

River: ($0.20) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $0.10, Hero raises to $0.40, SB calls $0.30

SB almost certainly has a Q here,
Retrospectively I think I should just go all-in as I don't think any NL2 player could fold a Q here even they may perceive I slowplayed KK/AA as some could be tricky here with a Q hoping to get another Q to fold.

This is 888 NL2 6 max so default buy in is 50BB.

How would you play?

"Always check here unless I have better kicker." WHAT? Hero's kicker is pretty irrelevant with this board. First Villain has to spike the case 9, a 1 in 47 shot and then has to hit the 9 in 13 shot at a better kicker.Hero hits the big blind special and should be thinking about building the pot.

That said I think checking is the best play, looking for a check raise. Unfortunately, it checks around.

The turn changes nothing and when SB wakes up and bets Hero should re-raise. SB either has something or she doesn't. If she doesn't it is unlikely she'll call the river, so it is best to get the money on the turn, IMHO. Villain bets again on another blank on the river. After the call hero has $0.93 behind which is a lot to push in and get called. I think a pot size bet is the best

I think you played it fine. You should probably shove the river, a Q should definitely call here, as you have only called turn.
There is merit to raising on the turn, however some players might fold a Q to a turn raise.
By calling the turn you keep your range and villains range wider.

50 bbs... just shove river or raise more. SB bets turn and river into 2 people. He likely has something so you want to maximize value.

Bet the flop. Lots of T8/JT/Qx hands have a peice they can call with.

NL2 most player are honest , so I don't suggest to bet flop or turn, I prefer your action, that could be maximum value.

Bet flop, raise turn, raise river bigger. Also, no one is going to think that you have slowplayed AA/KK when you check out of the BB fwiw. They'll assume that you would have raised those hands 100% of the time when closing the action.

I think he played the hand well the whole way through and any bigger of a re-raise on the river would have forced the SB to fold.
