Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 19.5/15.9/41.7

NL Holdem $0.02(BB)
HJ ($2.29) [VPIP: 19.5% | PFR: 15.9% | AGG: 41.7% | 3-Bet: 6.5% | Hands: 82]

Dealt to Hero: A K

UTG Folds, HJ Raises To $0.06, HERO Raises To $0.21, BTN Folds, SB Folds, BB Folds, HJ Raises To $0.51, HERO Calls $0.30

Hero SPR on Flop: [1.5 effective]
Flop ($1.09): J T 4
HJ Bets $0.35 (Rem. Stack: 1.43), HERO Calls $0.35 (Rem. Stack: 1.28)

Is this an okay spot to float the flop? My plan was if I hit a club or Q I could raise and if I hit a A or K I could check back or possibly call a bet.

Would a raise on the flop as a semi bluff be a better play here?

When is it a good play to float in general, what kind of spots should I look for?

Villain's stats are by no means nitty, so I would just 5 bet jam preflop.

Thanks for the reply.

At the time I was thinking I had position and my hand played well post flop so I decided just to call. I do think I need to jam more pre flop, especially with AK..

A raise on the flop would have worked fine, IMO.

Thanks for the reply, I definitely need to work on being more aggressive in spots like this... One of my leaks atm is being to passive post.

I would play the hand exactly same way. He probably has a pocket pair for a re-raise or maybe AK too. His bet on flop seems fishy, very low for a pocket pair so he might have missed the flop too or he is slow playing J-J. I would call because I have plenty of outs for a pair or a straight and good position. Let's see what he does on the turn. I wouldn't raise here I really don't want to build a big pot with that hand. If he bluffed he probably won't have courage to bet the turn and I might decide to semi-bluff there.
