What do you need to do to be a Dealer?

Any ideias in how to be a dealer?

And what ideas can be with the work of the dealer? I know many dealers, many young people earn extra money after university.

I know that in casinos in canada, you must take a course and pass to get hired. There is probably a cost, similar to getting a real estate licence.

Go to a dealers school. Very hard to unlearn bad habits. More to the job then you would think. Some instruction videos online maybe practice with them .

I know a lot of dealers from my local casino they had to go to some kind of dealer school.
Once they went through that they pretty much got a job at any one of 4 places that deal poker around where I live . I live in Tampa St.Pete FL so we have Tampa Downs we have Tampa Dog Track Derby Lane Sarasota Dog Track and Tampa Hard Rock Casino all you have to do is go to that poker dealer course and pass it and you have your pick of places to work and they make a bunch of money in tips. I asked one dealer and they said the low side they made in the last 5 years was 60k because of the tips they made and the high side was over 100K

Some places have dealer schools. Alice Halle, a dealer who worked for EPT and pokerstars events, did a podcast that you might find interesting.

It's all in french but I think she mentions that she used to be a player and she just fell into the job IIRC. Not sure if dealers get paid very well though, I know she mentioned that needing to get tipped was a big issue for her.

When I lived in Vegas there were certain casinos that would take dealers even if you didn’t go to a school. These situations were during summer with massive tournaments going on and they can’t get enough dealers to fill in at the tables.

Here in Pittsburgh, the Rivers Casino, along with the local community college, offers a dealers school a few times a year. You have to pass that course to get hired. I believe the cost is somewhere around $500, but if you can prove hardship they may waive the tuition.

some poker houses advertise they will need dealers on their social networks, you can direct them and try something as well..

Most places just require you to be able to deal Holdem no limit and limit and Omaha. Just go “try out” and you’re hired.
