I was wondering how the cards are shuffled in the poker room you usually play at. Do the dealers hand shuffle or just cut the deck after a card shuffling machine does it?

I have played in several non-Vegas casinos, and some have automatic shufflers; some don't.

I worked as a dealer for several years at several poker clubs. We made the shuffle manually, cut it off at the end and started distributing it. Sometimes a partner sat next to me, he made a shuffle, gave me cards, I cut and started distributing. We didn’t have a shuffle machine, because it was not profitable for our poker club. Several times I dealt cards in blackjack, I also made the whole shuffle myself. Our city is small, therefore everything is at such a primitive level.

Card Shuffling: Is It Honest?

Why do some dealers need to look at the cards as they are being riffled and others do not?

Probably just not as proficient in it as others imo. I've never questioned a professional dealer at a casino now in home games I've had some problems. One for instance I had the ace of clubs and flopped 3 clubs bet heavy dealer called. Turned a club and shipped it the dealer was riffling the deck in his hand and I wasn't really paying attention to him like I should have been. He says we'll your ahead now but this river six will give me a boat so I gotta call. I laughed thinking he was joking then bam rivered the six. I still didn't think anything but after another player told me he was 95% certain he saw him squeeze the deck

With overhead cameras, I doubt any dealer would risk his job to help a player.

If you dealt blackjack did you ever lowball any of the players? Better question still, did your employer have someone show you how to lowball the players sitting at your blackjack table?

I had never heard of lowball, and no one showed me. I handed out regular blackjack with six decks of cards. In Ukraine, gambling is prohibited, the casinos and poker clubs in which I worked acted illegally. My friend and I went to Moldova to play blackjack ourselves, there gambling is allowed, but even there I did not hear about lowball. I would love to hear from you what kind of game it is.
