I am in a live pub poker site here in the UK. Last night something came up and don’t know it is legal. 5 players still on the table betting was folded all the way to the small blind who raised 6 times the blind. The big blind wasn’t sure if he should call so small blind showed a jack. This led to the big blind folding. What would the rule be

Well if you wanted you could play with your cards showing but it would be foolish lol...

I know that you can complain if one of your cards flipped up showing during the deal...

LOL but I've seen this happen in Pub games and I don't think you can rule against it if the player is still in play... But its a choice that could land him losing the game if some one at the table could best him...

But if he's in play and he has something like 3 Jacks on the board and wants to show his Jack in the hand then it will only cost him further Bets... It's Naughty but in a Pub game im not sure that its illegal...:D Oops unless you can prove collusion...

In the casino where I regularly play poker, it's not allowed to show cards before the action is over! If you show cards, it is not important one or both, it counts as FOLD!

When its heads up, you can only hurt yourself by showing cards, so I think, in a lot of rooms this would be allowed. What is not allowed is for the other players to show, what they folded, so that BB would get information about the dead cards.

I had a guy do this to me the other night. I raised from middle position with JJ, the button raised all in with a semi short stack. I looked at him and he put his two cards out and said he would flip which ever one I wanted. I pointed to the one farther from me, it was a 6. Why would you ever turn down being shown the card?

I think in cash, when its heads up, its generally allowed.

In a tournament - floor or dealer would issue a warning to the player that the next time that happens they will be penalized by sitting out for one orbit but having to still pay their blinds.

In a cash game it is "frowned upon" and a warning can also be issued with a penalty being at the discretion of the floor.

Recently I saw a player show one card as he mucked and gathered the pot. His opponent said, "Hey, I want to see that other card." So, the floor was called over and instructed the dealer to show the other card as she was keeping them from the muck. It was enforcement of the "show one show all" rule which in this room refers to the cards....if you show one of them you have to show all of them.

I have personally done it on very rare occasions when I am desperate for a read and my opponent has shoved on me on the turn or river and I think my hand is very strong and should scare my opponent and I am looking for a read. So, the only action remaining is on me (no other players in the hand) - and I take the warning.

Good luck !

Showing Card

Never show 1 of all, to much information for the other Players.
