Hey guys,

I'm looking to upgrade my home poker kit but I'm not sure where the best places to buy from are in the UK.

In particular I'm looking for a place I can buy some plastic cards.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't over think it. Cards is cards, just buy a new pack when they get scruffy.
Smiths, Tescos, Argos, or online.
Easy enough to find:
https://www.whsmith.co.uk/search/go?af=&w=playing+cards

https://www.amazon.co.uk/plastic-co...age=1&rh=i:aps,k:plastic coated playing cards

Or you could try some special cards;) from the magic shop;)

You didn't say what poker kit you have and are upgrading from!
If you just want a starter set, you can't really go wrong with 2 decks of cards 500 solid 11.5g chips in a neat aluminium case for £35 quid from argos.

I don't know about availability in the UK. In the US, Walgreen's (large Pharmacy chain) have some fantastic Bicycle brand plastic cards for about $12 a deck with frequent "Buy One Get One Free" sales. Maybe larger pharmacies in the UK sell big brands like Bicycle? If you are looking for Modiano, Gemaco, Copag, etc, I wouldn't expect to see them on typical retail shelves. They are to be found online or at specialty shops. If specialty shops in the UK are anything like they are in North America, the best price would be online.

From the first page of hits on Amazon.uk search "plastic playing cards":

These are the ones in major US pharmacies This is more than I have ever paid for them:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prestige-P...11-spons&keywords=plastic+playing+cards&psc=1

Very basic Copags that you see in many cardrooms that don't have custom cards. This is the typical, very high retail price:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Copag-Plas...133293&sr=8-20&keywords=plastic+playing+cards

Wild cards. The kind of thing that is either a fantastic deal, or a complete waste of money:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Prem...133293&sr=8-15&keywords=plastic+playing+cards

Chips are a whole different ballgame. You have to know what you want. What are you upgrading from? Do you know what you want to get?

Я бы не подумал об этом. Карты - это карты, просто покупайте новый пакет, когда они становятся неряшливыми.
Smiths, Tescos, Argos или онлайн.
Достаточно легко найти:
https://www.whsmith.co.uk/search/go?af=&w=playing+cards

https://www.amazon.co.uk/plastic-coated-playing-cards/s? page = 1 & rh = i% 3Aaps% 2Ck% 3Aplastic% 20coated% 20playing% 20cards

Fair point. I've got a decent set of chips (not sure of the brand) but it only has 300 chips. I've bought another cheap set of plastic chips to make up for it if I host a bigger game.

What I'm more concerned about is cards, as I notice mine get scratched and marked a lot so I'm interested in getting some plastic cards. To be honest I quite like the idea of getting a plastic set.

If you'd like poker playing cards with a flavour, it might be a good idea to shop for some vintage ones. Ebay is a good place for that.

Believe me, there is a completely different vibe, when you play with cards one hundred years old. Fortunes were won and lost with them, they feel real.
