I played at Caesar's South Indiana on Thursday night $1-$2 NL.

In MP with 22 and there are 7 limps. Flop comes 452R and it checks to me and I check with the thought that there could be lots of 44, 55, A3, 36 in a limped pot. Now HJ bets out, BTN calls, and BB check raises. I fold the set of 2s and at showdown the HJ and BB show A3 and 55, respectively.

When speaking to a friend about this, he stated he would have lost everything.
A rare instance where you make money by folding. (please don't argue this point I know it's a canard)

Nice story Tony Two Cheeks (love the name by the way). You certainly saved yourself some money by your intuitive call here to fold. Its a great reminder that the winning hand in holder is the one at the end of the river, not what's in your hand or on the table part way through the hand. This is what I think most people would say was a great call by you and one you probably said to yourself when the others turned over their cards at the end.

Love your use of the word canard too!

Is this the same table w your AA vs. button straddle 99 ?

You had a great read on your opponents and made the logical decision.

I remember you said it was a super limpy table. So there's the flop and they're going crazy.

It is often hard to see how a set of deuces is beat there. I mean you would have kicked yourself to see an overpair of 77 and maybe 2 pair from the other guy.

Bet when you're ahead - fold when you're behind and you will be profitable all day!

Good luck !

Yes, it was the same game. The set of 2s happened about 4 hands before the AA vs 99 hand. The table broke shortly after the AA hand.

It just goes to show that your sets mean nothing when a whole bunch of people limp into the action and you get a connected board. Especially the bottom sets.

I'd start to question why not just fold pre then? If it's likely to go 7 ways and everyone has any two cards so much that bottom set is a fold then why limp in the first place? If the A3 or 55 played the hand slower we would have at least called flop. In games like this it may be better to raise or fold than limp tiny pairs in MP.

It's hard to disagree. I was looking to hit a bingo as cheaply as possible. If the board texture was slightly different, like KT2 then I would have found a way to get stacks in. The way it flopped either my board texture analysis has improved or my Peter tingles are getting more sensitive.
