Hi guys. I'm looking for all the places in Toronto where I can play live poker regularly. I don't get to do home games very often and so I'm craving more playtime.

I would prefer to start with lower stakes but am open to all suggestions regardless of that (cash or tourney).

Would be even more convenient if there are any games going on in the Vaughn/Richmond Hill area.

Already aware of the CNE / Woodbine casinos. How is the competition / rake there and what stakes do they offer?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the link :). Yup. As far as I know, as long as there is no rake or some way for the house to earn something, then it's legal.

I just signed up to this site myself:
My first game will be the Oct 5th $80 special game.

Looks like they have 2 tournaments a week, and have some $1/$3 cash games afterwards.

Thursdays at 3pm $50 buy-in
Saturday at 3 pm $80 buy-in

I'm not sure about the thursday game, but on Saturday $70 goes towards the pool and $10 is for some food and drink
(no alcohol at the club)

Great :). Let me know how it goes and how the competition is.

I've found 2 others. One is called pub poker, it's free to enter but you can win prizes and casino entry tickets whatever that means. The locations are in Aurora and Newmarket though which is decently far.

The other is called red hot poker tour. You have to register for the club and I don't know much else about it but they also play at pubs and have some kind of marketing affiliation with partypoker. https://redhotpokertour.com/

I've heard of Red Hot Poker Tour. Thinking on joining a league that's at a pub in St. Cathrens.

As for the $1/$3 cash that I played at TO poker.... If you don't bluff, or pick your spots very wisely... You'll crush it. If you don't really know how to fight aggressive players, you'll go broke pretty quick.

I was unfortunate enough to have this Azn guy to my immediate right, who was throwing chips around like they were freakn' play chips. He lost a few big pots and was hitting some people up for some cash around him. But, my gold mine was the aggressive Serbian across the table from me.

Needless to say. Aggressive poker seems to be a theme in that poker room. I'm not used to BB Ante for tournaments yet. I lost a big pot in the tournament then got chewed up pretty quick afterwards. They seem to all be regs. So when you take a couple of them out when you catch your draw: Every time you walk past them for the rest of the night, you'll hear them talking about the hand they lost to you and boohooo...

Final thoughts:
If you are a break even poker player - Go here and play maybe 10% tighter than normal, and you'll print money.
If you are a winning player - This place is a cash cow
You kind of have to be a bit social. I feel if you start making Hero calls and or just kind of dominating, but don't Give to the game, you'll just feel kind of awkward, and just wana bounce really. Cause I mean. It's not really in the "Nice" area of Toronto.

I was also curious about checking out the toronto live poker scene as I am improving my online skills.

I would assume anyone seeking out live tournaments outside of a casino are going to be predominantly regs. If you want to find fish anywhere near Toronto, the casinos in Niagara Falls on the weekends are full of drunk fish tanks with lots of cash to throw around.

BTW, Bathurst and Lawrence is a perfectly fine area with lots of expensive homes in the surrounding area! That plaza is just a bit old and run-down.

Lincs, can you PM me where you play, is it the link you posted earlier? Also, is it cash or tourney? It's not that sketchy underground place just off of Spadina near college is it? I'm not going back in there out of fear of getting my knees broken lol.

Thanks, always looking for tasty fish spots :)

Edit:
Update on Red Hot Poker Tour for anyone looking in Toronto, I messaged them on fb and it seems they are dead here. Also called the pub where they play and they said they haven't had an event like that in over a year...
