Hi everyone!

I recently started to play cash games offline with some friends (Not a close ones). and all of a sudden I found that its too easy to beat them each time.

I played with them last 3 weeks each day but weekends, and I only lost two days.

The problem is, I sametimes feel bad that I win each time, especially those who I play with are so nice, I alredy gave back to some of them what they lost sometimes.

Is that a normal feeling, or it will affect my poker?

It might sound weird, but its really like what i just described!

Thank you for all your participation

Playing with Friends

Well if you have been winning I'd count my lucky starts as odds are you turn to lose is coming .
I would guess for me it would depend on what stakes you are playing for? I have been in what was to be a friendly game that in one hand of Acey- Deucey I saw it cost a player over $900. He had Ace deuce and one other Ace and 2 deuces were showing on the tabble --he went pot and drew a 2 thus having to double the pot. So again depends on stakes you are playing.

When playing for money I would never feel sorry for winning as losing days are ahead.

Good Luck on your winning streak !

No reason to feel bad about winning!
And there should not be a reason to
feel bad when you are losing either...

If people play poker with money that they can't afford to lose,
then that doesn't constitute a problem on your end ;)

It is generally a good idea to NOT play poker for serious amounts
against friends... Better go to a casino if you are in the game for serious cash...

Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with me,

I know pretty much that there is no sorry or feeling bad about winning, but in same cases, even that i don't wanna use emotions at table, but i end up feeling bad that I won and in some pots i wish the opponent (friend) will take.

Anyway, I need to work on this, and i will.

Thank you again, for sharing with me

Good luck at tables

I get that feeling sometimes, but you have to think that they are there to try and take your money also. I sometimes check instead of bet when i feel this way towards a player.

I wouldn't feel bad. But as a friend just make sure nobody is losing more money than they can afford, that could always be an issue. Be careful, sometimes we have hotstreaks and all a sudden they come to a sudden halt!

Exactly, sometimes, when a friend go crazy and start adding chips each time they went all in against me.

I remember one day, I won like $1400 in 2 hours of playing, the blind were $2 $4, I started with $200 buyin; I played perfectly and end up wining that much.

A friend start to act neverous and try to get to me, I immidiatly annouce that I am cashing out (the rule here is you have to annouce cashout 45 mins earlier) so i set down and keep watching and laying down hands!

1 min before i can move out from the table and cashout, I had AA, and someone with healthy stack raise to me, and I just called, cuz i don't wanna get in for all the money we both have, he end up betting on turn and river all in. I called with a Set.

I end up winning that night over $3K!

The thing is, later at that night, I called that friend, and gave him back $500.

its just like that for me, i can't resist that feeling!

Thanks all for sharing

First time I felt this when I heard someone won 3 millions at wsop. I was surprised because I didn't feel it about my winnings.
Until once I sat at the table (micro stakes) and started to win. Next day the same. After few days I won much (for micro stakes) and then I thought if I want to win more I need to play more or go at higher limits. I didn't want to play more but it just pushes you to this thought. At the same time I felt that I don't win money I take money of other people. Luckily one day I sat at the table with pure fish who caught every hand, lost all my winnings and didn't have this feeling anymore.

I saw how the winner of the tourney with 1 million buy-in was absolutely frustrated and devastated. I saw the same feeling in his eyes. Later he said you don't know how many people lost their money. All you see is one guy with bunch of money.

This thread really separates who has soul and who....

Live home friends..???

Yes, I like homey live games, I have 3 I try to take part in, decent win rate,
But you get a target real fast as aggressive betting, ( by home standards ) .
If you get a good read, which sometimes can be easy, or you know who is playing scared...
You know who is who and what they are up too in most cases. Kinda fun. They will adapt or just call to run you down.

When they do just say., well a broken clock is right twice a day!

There is no reason to feel bad about winning.

They are playing their hands the way they think they should. Probably chasing a lot of draws and going all in with inferior hands.

Eventually they will learn from their mistakes and start emulating your play.

So, in the long run you are giving them some friendly lessons.

As long as everyone is enjoying themselves that is what really counts.

If you still feel guilty for some reason - don't give their money back to them - just bring a pizza with you next time.

Good luck !

I have never played for money at a home game with friends. I have faced friends at a casino poker room...folded pocket kings to my friend when an ace flopped...he did the same later...we know each other's game too well.

First time i played in a 1k tournament with a friend, we moved to same table and it was horrible, he busted me, AK vs QQ but hand doesnt matter, i wasnt possible to ignore that i was playing against my freind and that influenced my game....

Next time i'll focus on hiding playing agsinst a friend...

We had a regular home game going for for over 15 years. In the long run I did very well. Yeah, you sometimes feel bad taking money from your friends but not as bad as you feel when you lose.

I also play with friends, but I have no problem with collecting winnings, they also, hihi ,,,, if you have remorse, the solution may be to reduce the amounts, symbolic buy-in and the problem will disappear, unfortunately emotions also

Try playing sit and go style instead. all start with same chips. same buy in.

OR remember as long as your friends aren't losing their kids food money or mortgage payment its all good. maybe they are playing you to get better.

Quick Update!

I just remembered this thread, and want to share a quick experience with some friends two days ago

We played cash games, and I didn't do well for a almost two hours, then I had to rebuy and add more chips, suddenly some people came into my friend's house (i don't know them)

The three of them made huge buyings, so I told myself that they are obviously playing as a team, I stayed tight and played only premium hands.

Few mins, I got KK, I raised and two of these guys called, an As on the flop forsure, I had to continue betting, both called, and a King show up on the turn, I raised small, one called and the other went all in, and forsure I called and the other one called as well
I end up winning about $1600, and this time, I really didn't feel bad at all, I felt that I just go out from a trap.

Thank you everyone

Peace

When I play live poker with friends, I also get the feeling that I’m a cut above them! But in my opinion this is a very exaggerated sense of pride!
