So this morning I was feeling froggy and played a morning tourney at my Local Casino. Minor $80 buy in. About 76 people entered and there were about 22 rebuys. Blinds are 15 minutes the with 1st break after 2 hours, which is when late reg ends Usually gameplay is rather slow in these morning ones, after registration closes is when the real deal happens. Eyes glazed over yet? Perfect. Anyways, During gameplay there is a player that is CONSTANTLY ….and I Mean CONSTANTLY getting up and going inactive for 10-15 minutes a pop. So naturally when a player is out of the seat they auto fold the hand , Haven't Been a casino where that has changed. This guy comes back would rack up a few chips even hit a double up and then Leave again. So Running deep into the tourney , it's about 6 players until the money. This guy gets up AGAIN. about an hour later we were finally on the bubble. Gameplay was stopped by the floor. They took the inactive guys chips and Killed them from the table. Guy comes back about 45 minutes after they killed his chips and obviously had a bewildered look on his face on why he was out of the tourney. They told him that the ruling at the casino is they Do not allow Inactive Cashes. if there are 10 people or below before the cash you are not allowed to go inactive to thus "coast" into the money. I've actually never seen nor heard of this ruling killing a players chips like that , but was wondering what your take on it is. Obviously I would be pissed if it would have happened to me but I also gage the rules before I enter a tourney or a poker room for that matter.

I never heard that history, interessent to know how some live poker room works.
But I disagree with the rules of this casino, If this happen in a bigger tourney buy-in, nobody would accept that

I've never heard of such a rule either. Even though I find it annoying I feel like this player should have gotten a warning before killing his chips. Certain rules are more obscure than others. I would be pissed too.

Hey
Thats so gross.
But then rules are rules and have to be followed.
Nowhere have i ever heard or seen this rule.
Any player playing has all rights to play as and when he wants and sit out when he feels like.

Its an individual choice.
A good strategy too.
Thats some crazy casino rule.

His fault, he could sit there and fold every hand to make the money.

Don't understand why they implemented that rule, but house rules win over logical arguments every time.

Anyone playing poker tourneys like that is a chump. I don't care. It's a good rule and I hope it hurt watching his chips get snatched by the floor. Stay and battle /play or go play slots. This isnt for people like him . Got what he deserved.

Youre posting blinds whether there or not. If they are going to allow late registration they should allow an inactive cash. Makes no difference if you sit there and fold every hand, other than it may take longer for him to fold. However if its written in the rules....

They don't mean "inactive" they mean vacant seat?

Because you could just sit there and fold for that hour.

So he technically CAN play like that until about an hour before the bubble? I guess one should always check with the floor about their house rules.

One time I played a satellite tournament (top 10% get tournament ticket for bigger event) and early in the tournament I had 8x starting stack. It was still 300/600 and I knocked out 3 players in 4 hands.... I had something like 58k in chips. I told the dealer I was going to eat lunch....and the table was very disappointed that they could not get my chips - other than blinding me out. "Hey - where are you going?" lol

I came back from lunch to check on my chip stack and it was slightly dented. Then I played a cash game until the tournie was over and got my winnings.

Another time we are playing a daily tournie on a holiday weekend and we are approaching the bubble - maybe 20 minutes or so away. And a player has been talking about the football game the whole time. He calls the floor over and tells them that he has a ticket to the football game that is about to start on the other side of town and can he just leave his monster stack to be blinded out? lol The floor tells him sure and if he cashes they will leave his winnings at the cage and he can pick it up when he gets a chance or call them to arrange something else.

We all laugh that we will see him on one of the tv sets showing the game while we blind him out. Long story short he is literally the bubble boy and does not cash.

Good luck !
