Start with the poker course School PS. And the books Phil Gordon. The little green book of Phil Gordon. It is quite old, but I have learned a great deal in it. A very useful book. Play freerolls, they try to win, do not start with the all-in as do those who never win.

You could do what I did back in 2009. Do a google search for poker leagues in your area, then take a trip down there and play in the free live tournaments. Some live tournaments even give out prizes as well as a main event that has a big payout and the end of the season. The ones I play in do.

Playing live may not move fast like online, but you can really study human nature and pick up on tells.

Start in any online platform with a minimum deposit and try to start from the smallest tours (small buy in 0,02$ -0,5$ in order to learn from your mistakes ) also you have to watch some tips online or watch twitcherss

Do not start very quickly, do not rush with deposits, play a little freerolls, look around, try to climb from freerolls to a small bankroll, the most important experience, the more you play, the more you understand, only practice and a little theory.

Hi! To begin with, I recommend to determine the type of game, that is, a cash game or tournaments, then look for any benefits or books of this type, and try to look for literature that suits your limits. Play more and constantly evolve, good luck!

any tips please. thank you:eek:
Have I understand you correct that you want to read tips for live poker (I saw forum)? I've started playing live poker after online. And it's important to differ live and online poker.

At first, in live poker you should be able to remember your hand. "It's easy" - I am ready to hear:D Yes but no. You need practice. By the way you can do it in online too (for example, in PS after fold don't navigate mouse to see your cards and try to remember it).

At second, you should calculate stacks. You should know your stack every time you call, bet or raise. And sure you should know stacks of opponents; else you can't do right bet.

And the most important, this moment is absolutely absent in online poker - your emotions. You can skip your body motions but opponents can read it and they can use it for reading of you. It's time to use phrase "Poker face" literally. And also try to read opponents with "body language", smiles, words etc. I advise you to read books about psychology:) I didn't read it:D But I play live very rarely. Good luck!

I mean....yes. sometimes it pays to be "that" player. In higher stakes it is seldom you will find these types of players but micro stakes and freerolls you will find those constant jammers that seem to have all the luck in the world

any tips please. thank you:eek:
There are lots of great tips and strategies all over the CardsChat forum. Some are pinned at the top of different sections of the forum.

As far as cutting your teeth in live poker, I recommend looking for local bars & clubs that host free poker. That's where I started. I found the skill level of bar poker to vary. There were 2 or 3 good players, but most just go to have a good time.

Research strategy here on CardsChat and use that knowledge in bar poker to start. Then eventually moving to the casinos. That's my advice. Your question is pretty vague, so hopefully that is what you were looking for.

Whenever playing live - make sure that the dealer can hear or understand your intentions clearly - betting amounts, etc. Speak clearly to the dealer - they are running the table.

Good luck !

First, play the freerolls and accumulate a small bankroll and try yourself at kesh tables and tournaments with entrances. Do not play immediately for your money. This will give you the opportunity to evaluate your ability to win money.

Don’t hope for luck, fold your hand if it is very bad, those who hope for luck in poker - will lose everything, yes it is tempting to call and see the flop, but don’t do this, good luck)
