So Diamond total rewards members pay no resort fees, which I really need.

You need 15,000 tier credits for Diamond status.

If you earn 5,000 in one day, however, they give you another 10,000 free.

Does anyone know the fastest way to whore comps to reach 5,000 credits in one day?

You will be spending a lot of money unless you run super good. Pretty much have to play video poker to get there. Be prepared for a huge grind and have a large bankroll for it. It is hard enough to earn 1000 points in a day - I have only done that 1 time in about 10 years.

A few years ago I earned diamond status - only because I made 4-5 trips to Caesars Properties that year. I normally only make 2 so will never do it again.

I assume you have the Total Rewards visa - if not get one immediately. I could have never done it without it.

The following year after earning diamond I did not even make platinum because I only made 2 trips. But in Feb they sent me an email offering to return my diamond status if I charged $5000 on my card by May. That was easy - I used it for everything.

They have made me that same offer every year since and I have done it. Starting last year I have to pay $10 to go in Diamond Lounges - but I usually just skip that now. The other perks are worth it - $100 dinner, priority check-ins and lines and the no resort fee.

Plus got invited to a diamond members only $150k tournament in Nov and took 4th for $10k in casino vouchers - which I turned into $8k in cash :)

Is this in regards to MLife? Do you get immediately upgraded from Sapphire if you get the M Life credit card?

No - I was only talking about Total Rewards. I ditched MLife for TR because it is much better.

Glad you chimed in here Debi. I looked at the TR website (a few days ago, so from memory) it said $25K in slot play or $50K in video poker would get you 5K credits that count toward status. That's a lot of Gamboole for one day. All this for free "Resort". What is that? It sounds like a massage or a steam room, maybe a facial. That "free" facial may end up costing you a couple grand (or perhaps much, much more). Pay for the facial! Go to the right part of town and someone may even pay you for your facial. *Rimshot!* We need audio memes!

Yea someone would be crazy to do that lol.

Regarding the free resort fees - Vegas casinos rip everyone off by charging a daily resort fee that is now about $30-40 a night. So if they advertise rooms for $50 - it is really $80 or $90. And if you get a "free" night - it is really $30-40.

Total Rewards Diamond status members get the resort fees waived - so it is really the most valuable benefit for most.

Irony for me is I achieved Diamond Status after purchasing a timeshare in Vegas - so I rarely get to take advantage of that benefit lol.

It helped on the last trip though - to play in that free $150k tournament we had to stay 3 nights in one of their casinos - so I got that completely for free.

Phoenix, the people I encounter in the diamond lounge are quite a mix and for the most part don't look at what they have obtained with your attitude. I believe you will get what you deserve.

Debi, we just got back from celebrating New Year's in Vegas with two other couples. All of our rooms were comp'd for the week, our host writes off some of our dining, provides tickets for entertainment venues and more. Your host is crucial to your appreciation of the benefits of TR. Further, your benefits are accessible on any Harrah's properties..including the cruises your qualify for. The bottom line is, you must know how to gamble and if you lose would you have spent the same amount on the vacation anyway. There is a lot more I can write about this and I'm glad you popped into this thread.

Wow Debi, you do Vegas right. I remember your thread on playing in that tournament. It sounds like getting the credit card and using it is the best way to get Diamond status. I'll look into the terms and spending requirements. I currently get 2% cash back so I need to see if the perks of the Total Rewards Credit card will out weight the cash I currently get back.

In terms of dollars, do you know how much in perks a Diamond member will get? I go to Vegas once a year for maybe 3 days so that's $120 in resort fees. Do they invite you to the tournament every year? It might be worth it if that was the case. Below it said that you got free rooms during the tournament. Was that part of the tournament package, or something extra that they gave you?

Irony for me is I achieved Diamond Status after purchasing a timeshare in Vegas - so I rarely get to take advantage of that benefit lol.

I have always wondered about timeshares and if they are scams. I don't get the restricted times that you can go and some of the limitations and fees associated with them. Would you mind sharing the ins and out on your timeshare, and would you recommend others to purchase one? Thanks again for sharing :)

So this is just a code for "Ripoff Fee"? This is not something you can decline? And there's no massage included? Bob Stupak must be rolling in his grave!
