Never like to play online poker. I only like to play live poker where you can see the other players. Playing online means that you have to take a higher risk being cheated, meet bots,or scripted programs. I think go to live poker venue is worth the hassle.

Cheating in live poker take a lot more time and commitments for being there to the cheater. So I assume that it will be less probable happens in the live poker.

So guys do you ever suspect or even caught a cheating when you play a live poker?

1. How do you guys avoid being cheated in live poker? Pick a table?
2. What is the most dangerous kind of cheating to watch for in a live poker?

For example how you guy handle collusion? What to do if you suspect someone do collusion? I think the scariest one is a text to handphone to let other know and body signals.

Please share your experiences.

I have seen cheating in live poker in complicity with the dealer, I was not playing at that table, they had already eliminated me, but I was watching the development of the tone and I realized that the dealer was cheating in complicity with a player The guy who was cheating on him is too drunk, I didn't say anything, I just left and never came back
After a while I saw the guy who cheated on him again and I told him what I had seen, I told him that they cheated on him
That is why alcohol and poker is a terrible combination.

I'm not too worried; cheating can happen in a live setting too. It is like getting pickpocketed; you don't want it to happen to anyone, but the most susceptible ones are the ones who are too arrogant to realize it could happen to them. Same goes for cheating in live poker I think; I do magic as a hobby - especially card magic; there are a lot of techniques that cheaters could use in a live setting and the average player probably won't pick up on it.

I've never cheated myself, but I am humble enough to realize it could easily happen to anyone. If anything, I think live games are more likely for cheating than online. I feel okay at homegames where I know everyone well (as they are all really honest players) or even casinos because of all the cameras, but you have to realize that stuff is only in place because cheaters have tried.

I guess all you can do is pick a site/table/poker room or whatever that you are fairly comfortable with. Just like in live poker, but for online: same stuff goes. The chance of cheating is always there, but I find it too unlikely for me to worry about it too much.

Anytime you sit at a table where you are the only stranger, and all the other players are buddies that play every day together, you can bet your last dollar that you are going to get ganged up on, if not completely cheated by eye or hand signals, or a kick under the table to stay out of this hand...sometimes you may notice the same players raising and reraising with garbage cards to get you out of a pot.

I have only seen it in home games, in casinos I have seen some shady angle shooting, but not really cheating.

Play in legitimate poker rooms with cameras and security and stay away from shady home games.

Caught a guy base dealing in a live game. Funny thin is we were playing for literal change..05/.10 in a casual game years ago.

As for what to look for, I watch for people who have odd ways of shuffling, dealing, table talking, or chip placement.

Read the book "52 Ways To Cheat At Poker", and "Scarn's Guide To Poker". Both give eye opening information on detecting cheaters. You may still get fleeced, but your odds get better.

in my case I never saw in a casino, I think cheating has a higher frequency when you play with people you know in a different place than casinos and people from outside the group are invited, which ends up being the victim of the cheating. So I avoid playing poker with strangers other than just in a casino or online.

Question. In live poker why do they allow them to have their cell phone at the table?

First, you have to be good at poker. Then, you detect cheaters.

Because it's the 21st century and live poker is boring enough as it is.

I want to try live poker. How to understand that they are trying to deceive you? Are there any signs?
But I will start playing with friends at home, I think it will be quite fun.
But the question is, what if I ever sit down at a table with strangers in a casino?

As already mentioned above, this can be a collusion either with the dealer or with the players themselves sitting at the same table.

I've personally never really seen live cheating. Playing in less serious settings like a bargame, it's possible certain players could avoid playing against each other and get a slight edge that way...but very slight. Overall, I'm generally not concerned. As long as you're paying attention I highly doubt anyone could cheat at the stakes I play. And at higher stakes, I imagine you'd be playing at a casino that would ensure a level playing field(aside from the Mike Postle incident).

That is obvious - so the dealer can call them up and let them know which card is coming next.
Or maybe the cell phone is just too much of today's culture that they cannot stop it. Most casinos I've played at allow them, as long as the players are not talking on them. Dealers are quick to let players know the rules, especially if they are slowing down play.

As for cheating - I suspect some of the locals at casinos get preferential treatment from dealers and the house (in disputes), and I believe some players may be colluding.
