Calling Time in a Live Game

Hi for everyone!

What do you think is more polite to ask to the dealer for the time to a decission when you're not playing the currently hand?


Sometimes I wait for one minute and after that I tell to the dealer: 'Time' and he always told me 'Ok, the time is running right now'.

It depends on the situation. So at my local casinos they have a 5 hour block to where High hands get paid out every half hour so if a player is consistently spending 5 minutes making a decision then yes I will call for time. If it's just an ordinary cash table and no timed payout events then no I wont say anything. Usually though the dealers are pretty good at controlling long pause players

There's no excuse for anyone to take longer than five minutes, which is extreme anyway. There should be a clock.

You might. I would not if it's one hand only but sometime some players are constantly slow.

It's just me but if I'm not in the hand I would never call time on someone,if I'm in the hand 5 minutes is plenty of time to decide and then I would ask the dealer to put a clock on them

When I am in a live tournament and I am shortstacked and the clock keeps ticking....I will call the clock after 1 minute.

I have done this twice out of necessity. Both times I was not in the hand and the player that still had to act had "something" to think about. But it was eating up clock time
