Hi, what do you think about variance and online and offline poker? Feeling different or not? Good hands.

I personally think there are some sites that are rigged to favor donks for some kind of wow-factor... I've seen so many head-scratching, W... T... F... moments online, I can't believe what comes up by the river most of the time. So I think "variance" is leveraged to syphon more money from players.

That's just my feeling though. I don't have access to any source code, so I can't prove it lol :D

So I should try to play like sh1t for awhile.... then the system will tag me as a donk (OR maybe I'm already tagged as a donk while I'm trying to play my best???)... and then once I'm granted this 'tag' that favors me over others... I'm gonna crush! Hmm... but then I won't be a donk anymore according to the system .... unless they are tagging me based on something aside from money won in longterm

I don't have access to any source code but I do have access to some common sense. It's inside my head....

I have played over 5 million hands on probably over 50 different sites, over a period of 13yrs. online. I've played live poker for 50yrs.
I see no difference.

You have to use variance as the luck factor, sometimes it affects you positively and also negatively. I recommend that you study hard to minimize this factor in your game. Good fumes!

You are wrong, the poker rooms do not care if you win, or I win, the only thing that matters to them is to have a full room.
So you don't believe in statistics.

Maybe, but I don't see this crap on ignition. So it's suspect.

VARIANCE???

Variance online is higher than live as the skill edges are typically a lot smaller and therefore the win rates are much smaller.

Here's a good online poker variance calculator you could play around with: https://www.primedope.com/poker-variance-calculator/
I'm not sure if this is called Variance or just darn frustrating bad luck bu the following 4 hands were on pokerstars in the course of two days and were for the most part tournament ending...https://www.cardschat.com/replayer/224EVl6AB

and one other that I didn't copy that was in the League and ended my day, My cards AA, opp, KK and of course he caught 4 clubs for the flush ugh

Yeah nothing you could've done better in those spots well played got the chips in well. Tournaments are especially high variance as you really need to run well to make it far in them.

Variance

I am super fustrated with the amount of variance in the poker rooms online. I have not won with AA KK QQ AK in almost every senario. There is always a player who calls with any two starting and somehow gets there against me. I wont deposit money bacause no one is playing poker in my mind. No one pays attention to position or pot odds they just call everyhand or shove with weird ass hands. Poker is not fun when no one else is playing. I for one cant wait til my local casino poker room opens up again.

It gets better the higher that stakes/buy-in. I wouldn't let this donk crap discourage you from depositing on ACR at least. However, I would stay away from the lesser know rooms and Global Poker, of course. :D

I believe that both systems have the same logic, 52 cards. However, there is one factor that makes the variance of live poker more difficult to break: the possibility of increasing the number of daily games played is very small. This way, you can stay for long periods without winning. Recalling that we are winners of only 20% of the games we play (this is a player player). Of course, this situation requires greater psychological preparation and constant self-criticism if you are just downswing or in fact, playing badly.

The bad thing about online poker is that you can't know where the card is coming from :(

Both are the same since both online and live poker have 52 cards in the deck and the same rules for each - it is the same game and underlining math never changes - including variance. Granted, players may change strategies or approaches over the years via fads or new insights, but the core math of the game never changes.

One obvious thing I will mention though: sometimes online can "feel" like variance is worse but this is merely an illusion because you usually play more hands in the faster-paced online format than slower live games. With more hands dealt in the same amount of time, there may appear to be greater variance, but this isn't exactly correct: the same number of hands in live games should correlate to the same number of hands online.

I prefer online games because they are fast and we play a lot of hands. And about computer cheating, i don't think so...
