Can you play in canada as a visiting player or do you need to be a resident to legally play? Also would it be difficult to get money on or off? Thanks

WCOOP on pokerstars? I think this will only work if you set up an (illegal) alias Canadian account. PokerStars is well aware of who is playing on their site and from where. When I log into PS from the States, there is a warning page that it is illegal for people to play online poker in the US even if they are not US citizens. I cannot play for Play Money until I acknowledge the warning. I cannot imagine that it is OK for a US citizen to simply leave the States and fire up their PS account and play for real money. I have no experience in this area, but it defies my imagination that this would work - at least simply and legally. And really, simply and legally is the way to go if you want a giant company to whom you have given control of your money to give it back to you.

I had recently a similar question, when I was in Spain and I asked the support at PokerStars. They told me, that I can play there, when I setup a new account for this and also verify it. The best is, to ask their support in this case.

US players are not permitted to play at PokerStars in Canada. You have to have legal residence there and provide proof of it. They will require utility bills in your name at the Canadian address on your account among other things.

US pros who play in these events have a legal residence in Canada.

This is exactly the answer I was looking for. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Thanks for your response. I don't want to do anything illegal so I will not play. I am only going to be in Canada for a short amount of time.
