In poker, the notion of "nuts" means the best possible hand in a particular situation. If you believe the experts, the concept appeared in the Wild West, where poker players often put their wagon and horses on the line. when one of the players made such a bet, he was required to screw the nuts from the wheels and put them in the bank on the table in order to prevent the possibility of escape in case of a loss. Hence the term "nuts" - the one who is ready to put the most valuable, certainly has the best hand in the current game.

interesting fact: Also the player is called "nuts", if he is inclined to play only strong hands. A "answering machine" is called a very passive player who checks and makes a call, but never raises the stakes.
