Offending Chat

I am far from a soft guy. I'm a 7 year Vet, US ARMY, and former LEO. I am now a Disabled Vet. I really cant be offended for the most part. I have heard and dealt with it all.

However, I was recently in a .10/.25 cash game on sportsbetting.ag. Now I do PLENTY of trash talk, but there are lines I just don't cross.

I got into it with a member here that plays on that site, who I wish to remain nameless. It got going, and then she commented on my avatar. Its the same one I have here. She started in on how I was a "child molester" that got this pic off the internet so I could, (use your imagination here), while I was playing.

I went on to tell her to knock it off. That is a picture of my son, who is autistic. Then she laid into it, making fun of him in every way she could imagine. It got bad.

I explained that I have an account for him and every month any winnings over my bankroll I will be depositing to an account for him. That he was the reason I do anything I do. She STILL went on. (Trust me, it was bad). To the point that if it was live, she would have probably had her ass stomped in the ground by any female present, if not me.

I have been playing poker for over 10 years, with a few year break in between. I know "getting in someone's head" is part of the game, however, THERE ARE BOUDARIES. This kind of stuff sickens me, and in my eyes makes one look like a jackass.

Its embarrassing to all of us who love the game. If someone pulled a stunt like that live at minimum they would be removed from the game. If it was a male, believe me, they would have wished they had.

Instead of reporting her, I left it alone. I made a separate graph just for posts I'm in with her. It's a stairway to heaven, lol.

What are you guys' thoughts on limitations on this type of garbage? real money, live or online, there is no excuse for it.

I think that it would be good to block her chat if it's possible in this poker platform. People like her use one simple thing - anonymity. Personally I try not to react at all when people I don't personally know say bad things to me. And in real live I avoid communicating with that kind of people.

I almost do not pay attention to what is happening in the chat. I just do not have time for this - a game of 6-8 tables, there is no possibility to read what they write there. And I do not understand English so well (including colloquialisms, idioms, and the like) to pay attention to messages that are not related to the game.

Perhaps someone just wanted to distract you from a successful game and he succeeded. This is a dirty trick, but you have to be prepared for it. Unfortunately, this is part of the game online. You can not just stand up, go to the offender and give him a slap in the face (and then add a foot with a turn, as taught in any army).

Not really any good reason to pay attention to chat unless you are playing in a CC event. Not a problem in our events. By the way welcome to the forum & thank you for your service.

I tell you what I would have reported her and blocked her chat. You play online so you can get more hands in and to avoid people like that at a casino and bam you got one online. They have an ego problem and think they can run over people over the internet but they wouldn't do it in a live setting because they know they would be kicked out of the casino or would have there butt kicked one or. I would just block there chat and report them and hopefully you will not have to hear there chat again the next time your online playing. Sorry you had to go through it man.

That's ridiculous. There are definitely boundaries. I usually don't pay attention to the chat but I would have blocked her if I did. It's not worth arguing with someone who is that ignorant.

It doesn't matter how tough you are, everyone has buttons. She found yours and exploited it. No class. People are always real tough online. She would never say anything like that live. Almost no one would. She obviously has some major issues in her own life that is spilling over. I wouldn't take it personally.

If the crap was as bad as you say I would out her and shame her here with screenshots of the chat included, sometimes being outed like that is the only way for them to get the wake up call they so obviously need.

If true (and I don't doubt it) that is pathetic behaviour by a CCer.

My opinion

I trash talk and like to rev up the opponents. I usually lose when I do that. Its pretty cool because that is what I wanted. But there is a point I do quit. I think when she found out it was your son she should of backed off. Maybe its your son telling you to calm down. Autistic kids have that ability.

I also dont have time to read chat online when I play. But when this happens in life - this is an interesting topic. This is one of those topics that show how much the justice system isnt effective, because it protects such "people."
We still have no big problems with this in Russia. If someone says this in person, he will immediately get in the face. And people around who will witness, applaud, and some will approach and also kick this scum.
But in general ... The more I live, the more convinced I'm that no civilization exists. All people are animals. A person can only pretend to be civilized, but the moment always comes and he shows the true “I”: vile, animal, cruel and despicable !!

Please send a private message to one of the forum moderators (or you can send me a PM if that's easier and I'll pass it along) and report the information about this interaction, with that other person's name). A screen shot of the chat would be very helpful. Trash talking in a friendly way is fine but there is a boundary that we don't want to see crossed here at CardsChat. In my opinion (and I am NOT a moderator here) this is unacceptable behavior.

Screen shot is as simple as Alt-Print Scrn or use the snipping tool or perhaps you can download your hands file from the site and that may also capture the chat (I know that poker stars does this, not sure about the site you mentioned).

And yes, best to mute your chat for anyone who annoys you. This is a game that should be friendly, not aggravating!

Are you serious? You say you are a former law enforcement officer? You talk about boundaries, I think the statement about stomping anyone especially a female into the ground is way out of bounds.

I would like to see what you said in chat at the time, considering what you were willing to say in your post on CardsChat. I don't know what you said but you may have said something that she considered out of bounds and at that point she did not care about what you considered out of bounds and went off.
I think the problem with a lot of these chat arguments is that what you may consider
good-natured banter may be out of bounds and offensive to someone else and then all bets are off and you get unloaded on in chat and only consider your position. So that is why I agree with terryk.

Almost all poker sites give you the ability to mute players. If you feel offended just mute them and move on.

Hey man, sorry u had to experience playing against a player w/such low-class, and a CC member at that. I believe she did cross a line. I hate to see and hear about this type of behavior. It pretty much sickens me, too. I can't help but feel that it's a part of the world we live in. After all, have you seen our so-called president

? We get a low-class idiot in the whitehouse who represents that kind of behavior and other idiots follow suit. I guess they think it's OK to be a complete douche-bag. It's a fkng epidemic.
The best advice for this problem has been posted, already; block their chat and you won't have any more problems.
I think it's admirable that you fund his account w/poker winnings. Kudos, man and keep up the awesome parenting! :congrats::adore:

Good morning, for me the best tool you can use is to ignore it. Maybe that woman has some mental disorder and that's why she has a fixation on you. but quiet do not leave the tables for someone who is not worth it. successes and blessings for you and your baby.

Yeah things like this are all too common on any kind of online chat room, the best advice is to block it or to just tune it out. People like that usually feed on the attention they are given.

I agree, they feed on the emotion they've just created in you, while you're boiling and frustrated you'll play alot worse. they'll then feed on your chip stack as well as the attention and mistakes you make lol

When you play poker play poker and chat I never chat this prevents the game and not uptight about anything just play the game and enjoy the profits.
