I've been playing on betonline for a few months... I am getting whooped by the regs there. Sometimes on Wednesdays (after the freerolls) and Saturday mornings I can get lucky with a soft table, but there are always 2+ regs already there when I show up, sitting with 300 bb+ stacks after shearing the online casino fools before I could get there....

After initially going up 4 BI, I lost all of that and then some. I switched to play money poker on my phone (zynga :( ) for the time being. So...

Where can I play the lowest stakes with softer opponents? What site? I saw ignition has a .02/.05, so that's a little better. Is it really worth the switch? ...ain't nobody got .01/.02 any more?

If .05/.10 is really comparable to live 1/2, then I know I am horribly outmatched.

I live in Cali, if that affects anything.

Small player pools just leave regulars waiting at the table for fish.

Congrats on finding some schedule that works for your desired game.

I would stick with what works for you.

Not sure anybody will give you the address of their favourite honey-hole.

Good luck !

I play .01/.02 on ACR and do fine. When I was first starting (about a year and a half ago) I got my my ass handed to me regularly. After a month or so of that I took a break, studied like crazy and spent 6 months playing on Advanced Poker Training to plug my leaks. When I returned to ACR I played noticeably better, the regs don't kick my ass any more, and I have had a positive win rate for the most part since.

Moral of the story - if you want to level the playing field then study micro stakes strategy and find a place like APT where you can drill the basics, like knowing your starting hand ranges cold, etc, without blowing your BR.

And I like ACR the best.

If you have to work hard to beat 2NL either poker is not for you, or online poker has become ridiculously though.

When I started online (2004) 10-25NL and 1-2 LH was considered beginner levels. Even up to 100NL and 5-10 LH was common to start with.

I know it much harder now but it is a little unbelievable to think that so many people have a hard time at 2NL.

Having said that I sometimes play some lower levels spin and go's on pokerstars just for fun and even if most players are horrible some poor Russians (and other non-western players) are nitting it up like 1 dollar meant live or death for them.

I'm happy I am retired from online poker. It seems impossible to motivate oneself to play good poker just to beat 2NL Cash.

To answer your question: I would only use the online sites (especially the ones available for US citizens) to do a little training against "good" players and analyze leaks in my game.

And if possible find a LIVE game I could beat. Either a in casino or home game.

If that is not an option you would either have to study hard or just play for Play Money for fun on PokerStars (if your main goal is just to play for fun and not make money the later one is not so crazy as it would be 10 years ago). I heard that some players from the USA even compete with Play Money but makes bet with others that has to be paid with real money (the play money is just to track the score).

Good thing about Cards Chat is that we have a micro stakes expert among us! Check him out.

You can give ACR a try, they have .01/02 NL games. Good luck
