Why don't any sites just simply implement, that you must use a camera when playing. Then just put a space to see each player, instead of some stupid avatar. Everything gets recorded and players could report any suspicious activity with an exact time to be investigated. Could this help in fighting the bot war? Any thoughts.....

serious? lol, this is a absurd. poker rooms will never do that, is super complex to do and people will not accept even if they possible could do. an Bot is a minority part of poker, they know how prevent much more easy than this invasion of privacy.

Maybe such video transmitted games could become a very small niche, if someone offered them, but I can not see it catch on in a major way. Part of the advantage of online poker is, that you dont need to worry about your appearance or put on a poker face.

This is indeed a good idea, but I think most online poker rooms do not take this measure. We can only choose regular large poker rooms to play cards to try to avoid robot disturbance.

888 had previously implemented special tournaments with a camera option.
That was very poorly received by the community and most of the users had their camera turned off or covered.
You can get an idea in this old thread:
https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-rooms-10/do-you-like-playing-888-poker-349217/

Recording all the players all the time seems unreasonable since storing that amount of data in the internet is not cost effective for investigating the few people that are using bots.
Those who are cheating can still find ways to use bots and stay on camera.
The best way to catch cheaters is to monitor task manager and go after cheating software in the time that it is being used.

Thanks for the post. I have had some experience with bots playing heads up sit n go's. If you suspect you are being stacked by a bot I would recommend asking the website admin to review hands played and they can take the appropriate action. I understand your frustrations. Good Luck

Good Luck To All:cool:

This would be tough to put in place. A lot of sites have mobile options and not everyone has a cam for PC as well. Tough to put in place and don't see this happening.

Privacy concerns aside, other platforms in the past have tried this with little success, interest, or fanfare. Plus if this is meant to be a way to curb bots or have a record, imagine the amount of bandwidth it would take to manage that. Online poker has already seen issues of handling the influx of more people playing, so this could be hard for any platform to handle.

i think poker sites should implement something like timed "Captcha" from time to time that you need to solve, failing to do so for a couple of times should result with a ban.

Nice try FBI. But seriously the amount of bandwith needed, pokerstars is already slow in a lot of countries due to the player bump since the quarantine.

This really isn't viable for many reason's. If They really wanted to couldn't they just put small tests in between hands. Here's a quote from an article I was reading.

With a long track record of helping some of the biggest Fortune 500 companies, Unbotify’s pioneering solution which uses anonymized sensor data from human-device interaction, compliant with all data privacy regulations, to create machine learning models based on real users’ behavior.

By learning an app’s natural user-flow, Unbotify’s solution discerns the patterns in behavior that can distinguish between humans and bots. From there, developers can easily weed out the bots and take back control of their app economy.

While many apps’ aim is to stem monetary losses from bots, the damage they can have on a game’s reputation is far more damaging.

It sounds like if they wanted the bots gone there are ways to do it.

I don't think it's a viable solution. While it has advantage to combat the bot, however someone who has played with bot will have a way to find a loophole.

It's not even counting other disadvantages, one example that will hit the poker room hard is increasing of expenses. By demanding all the users to have camera, it will burden the server, so they have to increase their server capability.

Another disadvantage when it comes to using camera to play is privacy issue. People nowadays are very vocal on privacy violation matters, it can reduce the amount of player for the room, which is bad.

This will never works. This could be an additional option for players who would like to use this option, but not obligatory
