In these days of pandemic, I see with uncertainty, a message from the online bookmakers and poker, about responsibility for the game of real money, a question such as not going crazy betting all your money, when precisely that is the reason for its exist. The most absurd thing about all this, is that most of their promotions, bonuses and game passwords, are focused on the constant game of their participants, something like the more you invest time and money the more we reward you. In short, I do not believe in that double standard and its solidarity. Double speech.

I don't think it is a double standard. I think that these sites are competing with each other to get us to their sites so that they can make money. And with more people stuck at home (regardless of my feelings on this "pandemic") they see this as an opportunity to grow their player base. This is how capitalism is supposed to work. They are giving better offers to attract more players because they realize that there is a lot of competition out there fighting for you to come play at their sites.

Do I believe that they actually care if we are using our money responsibly? Of course not. But I do love that capitalism is out there working and showing players the benefits of competition. I just wish that the USA would wake up and get online poker legal in all States again.

Now that you touch on the subject of the online poker ban in the United States, I have always considered that more than a ban, it is a failure to agree on taxes. In fact, many years ago the US government established a lawsuit over Pokersatars, which ended with a simple agreement not to allow money from North American banks to the page under any circumstances. Remember this, Uncle Sam what he loves to collect taxes, God knows the bulky figure they wanted to collect from pokerstars and they of course did not accept it

Of course betting, poker and casino companies are feeding from the will of players to play and gamble. Regulators in different countries have some requirements (especially now during the covid19 situation) and these companies are showing these warnings due to this. It is up to the player to know his/her limits and you can't expect company with gambling based business to help you not to gamble.

Exactly. Its like in the US, where every bottle of wine needs to have a printed warning about drunk driving and pregnant women drinking alcohol. Or like the warnings about lung cancer, which we have here in Europe on every pack of cigarettes. For sure its a little annoying, that the banner about responsible gambling pops up, every single time I open the poker client. But it is after all a minor thing, since its just a click with the mouse to make it go away.

For me its more annoying, that my government also demand, that a banner need to pop up every half hour telling me, how much I have "lost" including money in play. This often happen in the middle of a hand, and then I can not take action in the hand, before I have clicked "ok" almost like its a dead man button in a train drivers cabin. But again this is not something, PokerStars have decided.

Actually, this is a false narrative. The online ban was due to cheating taking place on certain sites (Ultimate Bet and Full Tilt were among the worst) and a reinterpretation of the Wire Act that the USDOJ used to take control of internet gaming(there were also portions of the RICO Act used).

I KNOW that Uncle Sam loves to collect taxes (and that does not really differ along party lines) but Black Friday was caused by cheating. We are slowly getting internet poker back in the US, we are having to do it state by state. But, it is NOT about taxes, it is about government oversight and control. If it were simply about taxes, the issue would have already been resolved with sites that were willing to submit themselves to taxation (as Pokerstars has done in several states.)

As an attorney, I have followed this litigation very closely (and tried to participate where I can), we are actually on the cusp of poker being legal again (despite the casinos lobbying hard against it). There is a case pending in the Supreme Court that will ultimately decide what interpretation of the Wire Act that will be used (the lower court ruled that the DOJ's interpretation was false and the Supreme Court really likes to affirm the lower court) but even if the Supreme Court rule in favor of the DOJ, there are now 7 states that have legalized online poker (and that IS due to tax revenue), so there will be further battle between WHO gets to decide whether poker is legal in a certain state or not.

Sound all very confusing? It is but it isn't. LOL. If you want to know more, feel free to hit me up anytime.

I thought it was because they considered the money transactions , money laundering , and there was some illegal money transactions.
The U.S government doesnt care about us and if we get cheated. They needed a reason to seize assets.
And they used the money transactions for that .
At least thats what i remember reading about.
