Biggest barrier to online poker

What’s your biggest barrier to playing online poker? Besides the obvious not available in your country. I’d say mine is family responsibilities. Sometimes I’ll start a MTT only to do too good and have to sit out to pick up my kids, or cook supper, etc.

How about you?

Last sunday my dog broke my laptop, which was already my last choice, as I didn't have a monitor for my PC. I was forced to play on my mobile, which means one game at a time. And no ACR...

Besides interruptions of Internet failure or complete blackouts are that custom here in mexico, I am just used to it, but running deep in a tournament and I would smash sth for sure.

Yes family does get in the way. My daughter needed to use the PC during a Cardschat freeroll so I didn't get to play in that one. You have to find time to play in the freerolls.

The pokerstars CC freerolls start 16:30 my time so I usually start for half hour, then sit out while driving home 15-20 min then hope to catch back up.

Apparently playing poker on your phone while driving on a highway is distracting. I guess I can understand that....I could easily hit fold instead of raise. 🤪

My family considers poker a degenerate losers game. They look down on me everytime I play. I told them it is a legendary game for good reason. I don't play around them or tell them about my local trips to the Casino.

Work and family can get in the way of playing. I like the start times of the CC freerolls because I can usually get the kids to bed before they start.

For me, its the fun factor. When I can go to a cardroom on a weekend night...its so much more fun and more profitable to go to a local cardroom instead of playing online.

Yes it's hard to find the hours to play tournaments without interruptions, I often find I'm multitasking while playing, cooking dinner, talking on the phone,feeding the bird, etc.

Yes, sometimes children prevent me from playing long tournaments when I play on weekends during the day, and I tried to play only in the evening, but now I gave the children a computer to play and they did not bother me, and for me and my wife I bought a laptop so that we could separately watch movies and I could safely play freerolls in the evenings and sometimes during the day in normal tournaments!

The biggest obstacle for me is lack of patience.
But despite this, I try to improve my skills every day.

Other commitments for sure. I had to throw in the towel yesterday late in the CC Stars freeroll because we were already 15 minutes late for a dinner party. That's why I like the faster/shorter options so much - Cash, Zoom, Spin & Go and STT.

I usually get in the way of everything.
Freeroll club on PS I have at 5 am and on ACR or BCP at 10 am.
probably soon I will be beaten by the whole family)))))

I see alot of people are talking about their family. That hits home for me i just recently divorced and onlne poker i believe was a mmajor part of that

poker should never destroy your world.
you did something wrong at the expense of the family?
it is not for us to judge you.
just prove to everyone that you are the best at poker, make them think and understand you. and then you will destroy all barriers.

I've read all the posts of the participants. Everyone has problems that interfere with the game. It's good that no one bothers me)

For me the biggest problem is lack of time .

I have almost same issues like you meaning mainly thing which don't let me to play MTTs is that i have stuffs to do into the house 😝😁. Another impediment is that i play only on my phone so i have to have a charger at me all the time and of course a snuff around me😂; one more thing: certain poker platform don't have all tournaments available for Android version 😕.

In my time zone the CC FR start at 3pm. This gives me 2 hrs to play before dinner time. What I do is wait for a decent hand to push all in and then sit out until diner is over and dishes are done. Most of the time this does not work, either I get busted right away or get blinded out before I can return to the game.

The biggest obstacle is time to play. There's never enough time.

Lack of time.

It's just a hobby for me, in my university days I made money but only beer money. So between work, family and life I stopped playing until recently.

My biggest barrier is staying focused and tight on my game...i usually start out playing great...win a lot and then i i start taking to many chances and its a leak

Main thing is not wanting to seem antisocial. I get time for games but I won't play if the wife is home and we're spending time together. Right now though she's watching a film so all is good

First baby on the way here in January, that's going to limit my play time a lot, but not concerned at all.

Nope kids make playing poker not as big a priority, at least until they get old enough they want to do their own thing anyways. You may be able to play some late night games while the baby is up!

My biggest Barrier is Living in the United States. To me that sounds like a joke. Home of the Free but blocking us as poker players to a few rooms with difficult deposits and expensive withdrawals. They are trying to price us out of playing.
