Hey, just wondering how many of you have auto-muck unchecked when they play?

Is it a bad idea to show anything given the amount of software collecting stats online?

If you show some hands, which do you show, and why?

Can you exploit data collection software by showing hands you’ve played incorrectly? As in showing the opponents software that you’re capable of making bad plays?

Thanks for your considerations and replies :)

I never show my hands, play with bad or good cards, the less your opponent knows about your game better.

i very rarely show hands. i once in a while show my cards when i raise the from the SB when it is folded around to me and the BB folds to show i was not bluffing. this sets up future steals for me. i never ever show a bluff.

Auto Muck always on, unless you really know your opponents showing hands does nothing but let the table know where a fish is sitting.

I think it's been a long time not important to hide your hand or show it, it can only work with donkeys. Many players expect tricky pitfalls, so if you show your hand, you always have to be careful about bluffing.

Once in awhile during a live game at a casino, I will show a hand if the situation seems right. On-line my auto muck remains on always. Showing your cards is never optimal online. Most people do it, for their own "ego" it makes themselves feel better. The only exception to this "might" I say might be if you are playing heads up against someone and you are trying to get your villain off balance. I still don't do it however.

Good Luck, whichever you decide

Coo, I’d be intrigued to hear some more strategical advantages anyone thinks they’ve employed by showing cards at certain times... thanks for the replies :)

Showing your cards can affect your table image. You show a good hand to make others to perceive you as tight or vice versa. You can show a bluff to get some more action. I prefer mucking my hand, but when the time is right showing the hand can be beneficial. You have to experiment with it yourself.

I usually have auto-muck on moves the game along a little faster, and one less action I need to take at the end of the hand. (especially nice when multi-tabling).

Sometimes I show my cards when we are few left at the table. I show when I have very good hand and I bet to make them fold. So that the next time they believe I have a good game also

It's simple: I never show my cards because I don't want to give my opponents information about the way I bluff.
