Hi all,

I love tourneys. Pretty much everything about them, from looking in your account to see your tickets, to adjusting strategy for the different stages, to playing different roles (e.g., large stack bully, short stack defender), to chatting w/ nice people, etc., etc. Just so fun, interesting and exciting!

Cash games, on the other hand, I can't stand (no offense to cash game lovers). My question is, does anybody out there love both formats, and why?

Thanks.

Tourneys are much more interesting for me than cash games. I’ve made more money playing cash games, but that’s because you can find weaker players wanting to double up and go fishing.

Tourneys are more strategic and challenging. I especially enjoy satellite tourneys. I tend to do pretty well in these.

Hi!

I will answer the second half of your question. I played a lot of tournaments live. Then when I tried the cash game once I became completely in love :). After that, the tournament was completely in the background. I only start in tournaments where big prizes are guaranteed. The little tournaments just take the money out of my pocket because as long as I play in the tournament I could win a lot more at the cash table.

Thanks for your reply, Bnobob. Do you adapt by playing both tourneys and cash games?

No, I absolutely detest cash games! This is because of my own failings which have created a negative association. There is just something about cash games that puts me on tilt and causes me to punt off stacks!

Tournaments are enjoyable because my risk/investment is known up front and I can then relax and play at my own pace.

I do agree with the last poster though - I enjoy Spin&Gos, probably because they feel more like a mini-tournament.

Yes I do. They both require strategies and both of them can dynamically change the said strategy depending on the situation at the table and field.

I love mainly tourneys, but when it becomes to cash games I like to play zoom omaha hi/lo. That is the only kind of cash game I like to play, but prefer more tourneys

I like both formats (and also sit-and-goes.´, especially 45mans)
MTT I like most, but if I dont have enough time to play a tournament, I hop into a nice micro cash game, and most of the time I book some little winnings :)

I do play both and I like them. To be honest what I like the most in cash games is that you can call it a session whenever you want!

I agree that in cash you can quickly win because the game is for money, but you can also easily lose)) In cash games, I can quickly enter the tilt and lose everything, so I'm wary of them for now)
