I used to play Pineapple in home games a lot. Back around 2010, I played Pineapple on Full Tilt.

I've been living in Japan since 2011, got married, had kids, and no free time.

Recently, my kids started school and I've had some free time to play poker, but I haven't seen Pineapple.

Any fans of Pineapple? Any sites that have Pineapple?

You're a little too late asking. Nitrogensports.eu has it. Not much of a poker site and uses btc for wd and dep. Also they don't require any personal info so anonymous. Anyway they used to run a pineapple freeroll every Wed night for 200 mbtc. Which is .2 btc which was quite a nice fr especially when btc was 20000. And it only got less than 1000 players each week. Unfortunately they changed up all their tournaments and the pineapple fr now pays out something like 8 - $.61 coupons. A slight drop off from previous payout lol. Hopefully they'll go back but I doubt it. But if you just want to play check it out.

I've seen Pineapple on Global Poker, but I think you can only play for Gold coins (their version of play money), not cash.

Thanks for the help guys. I'd like to check out that freeroll. It's a game that I really enjoy, so I'd like to just play it for fun or low stakes sometimes.

Hi Pablo. Here are the basic rules. I prefer Crazy Pineapple but both are fun.

How to Play Pineapple Poker

Just as in Hold'em, the two players to the left of the dealer post blinds or forced bets before the deal, but this is where the similarities end—at least for a while.

Instead of being dealt two hole cards as in Texas Hold'em, each player gets three hole cards to begin in Pineapple Poker.
Now comes the betting round. If you're playing regular Pineapple, every player discards one of his three hole cards. Now everyone has only the regular two hole cards they would have had in a Texas Hold'em game. Play continues just like in Texas Hold'em. Hand values are a little inflated, but nothing too crazy happens.
After the betting is complete, the flop is dealt—five community cards face up on the table—and another round of betting begins.

The "Crazy" in Crazy Pineapple

Here's where it gets "crazy." In Crazy Pineapple, players have held on to their three starting cards up until this point. After the second round of betting is completed, this is when players can discard one of their three cards. Having seen how the flop hits their hands, players can make far better decisions about which two cards to keep and which one to throw away.

This makes for big hands, big pots, and big bad beats. That ought to keep the boredom away.
From here on, the game is identical to Texas Hold'em. The turn is dealt, a round of betting happens, the river is dealt, there is a final betting round, then there's a showdown if anyone is left. Players can use any combination of the two hole cards in their hands and the five board or community cards on the table to make the best hand, and the best hand wins the pot.

I checked out that freeroll on nitrogen. Here's the payout.

This freeroll issues 8 generic 0.54mbtc tickets that can be used in any of our 0.54 mbtc tournaments.

Unfortunately, in Japan it starts at eight in the morning so I can't play it.

I tried PPPoker but I think it's not for real money. You have to buy their gold coins but I don't think you can make a withdrawal.

OP is talking about Pineapple, not Open Face Chinese. I have no idea why some people call "Open Face Chinese (Poker)" "Open Face Chinese Pineapple". OFC and Pineapple are clearly not the same game. :dontknow:

From the post above: ".....Instead of being dealt two hole cards as in Texas Hold'em, each player gets three hole cards to begin in Pineapple Poker. Now comes the betting round. If you're playing regular Pineapple, every player discards one of his three hole cards. ...."

Hi there, about your post, well I'm not an expert in Pineapple, but all the articles I have read, said that Pineapple is a variant of open face chinese poker, the most popular variant and in CoinPoker they promote the game as "OFCP".

Hi there, about your post, well I'm not an expert in Pineapple, but all the articles I have read, said that Pineapple is a variant of Open Face Chinese Poker, the most popular variant and in CoinPoker they promote the game as "OFCP".
There is a variant of Open Face Chinese Poker called Pineapple.

From wikipedia:

Chinese:
Open-face Chinese poker, OFCP, commonly known as Open Face Chinese or OFC, is a variant of Chinese Poker where players receive five cards to start and then one card at a time until each player has a 13 card hand legal or not. The game originated in Finland during the mid-200s and spread to Russia a few years later. Professional poker player Alex Kravchenko, who is credited with introducing the game to the Russian high-stakes community, describes the game as "spreading like a virus". The game was introduced to the United States in 2012.[2]

Variations:

  • Pineapple Open Face Chinese poker (POFC) — For a maximum of three players. Each player is dealt five cards to start. Instead of being dealt one at a time players are dealt three cards at a time.[7] Players set two cards and discards one until 13 card hands are made. If a player achieves fantasyland the player receives 14 cards and discard one. Traditional OFC rules apply to enter fantasyland. Some players suggest AA+ as a minimum requirement. To remain in fantasyland requires three of a kind on top and/or four of a kind or better on the bottom. Full house in the middle does not qualify.
  • Double deck open face Chinese poker — in this variant two decks of cards are shuffled together and both used in the game, allowing more people to play, Double deck pineapple can also be played. Apart from this the games are played using the same rules as the single deck games. Some players suggest a AA+ as a minimum requirement for fantasy land. By using two decks it is possible to get 5 of a kind; some suggest giving this hand the same royalties as the straight flush.
As opposed to Pineapple:
Pineapple variations
Pineapple hold 'em exists halfway between Texas hold 'em and Omaha hold 'em and has been very popular in Australia and South America, specifically in Medellin, Colombia, where it was first introduced in a private poker room since 2010. Players are initially dealt three cards. Each player then discards one of the three cards (Pre-flop, Post-flop or at Showdown), and the game proceeds exactly as in Texas hold 'em.[9] In some regional variations, five cards are dealt, and one is discarded after flop, turn, and river, otherwise proceeding as usual Texas hold 'em.

Pineapple
Players discard their third (unwanted or unneeded) card pre-flop, before the first betting round.

Crazy Pineapple
Players discard their third (unwanted or unneeded) card after the flop, before the fourth community card is dealt.

Tahoe (Lazy Pineapple)
Players discard after the final betting round or at showdown so they may not use all three of them to make a hand. Each player may use none, one, or two cards from his hand (never three cards) combined with those on the board, to make his final five-card hand, just like in Texas hold 'em.

In the variant known as "Super hold 'em", players can keep all 3 private cards throughout the play and may use all three cards to determine high hand.

Now there are apparent inaccuracies in the article for Chinese Poker since I watched players on Poker After Dark discussing playing OFC well before the stated date of 2012 for introduction to the US - maybe they mean the first games spread in US Casinos, I don't know.

All I'm saying is Pineapple is a game much like Hold 'Em, Open Face Chinese Pineapple is a variant of Open Face Chinese Poker which is nothing like Hold'Em. When using the term "Pineapple", as in: "Want to play Pineapple?", I think you should be referring to Pineapple or one of its variants and not OFC Pineapple. At least that is what anyone I've ever talked to in person about it or played against (Pineapple - I've never played OFC) would say. More importantly, it is what OP meant when this thread was created a year and a half ago. Maybe the new, online term is "Pineapple" for OFC Pineapple, but I doubt it.

Hi again, I get you now, thanks for the info, I didn't know there was a Pineapple holdem version, but it looks like the games I played when I was a kid, so my response to the OP would be that I don't know where you can play this holdem variant, and I too join to the OP, I would like to know too.:)

Pineapple OFC is the most played form of OFC by far, in my experience - it plays so much faster and is way more fun.

Pineapple Hold'em in the UK used to be called 'Irish Hold'em' - no idea why.
