i've been playing on 888 for quite some time now and for the first time ever i took a look at the rake in a single table sng.. i normally play MTTs so i was quite surprised when i saw the rake was 20% on a sng...

is that normal? lol.. i dont play SNGs often but was thinking of changing it up because.. well, they finish fast and you dont have to dedicate a whole day to a SNG like some MTTs :p but i remember rake being 10%.. 1.10 buy in, 10 cent rake... no?

where does 888 get off charging 20%? anyone else play there and notice this?... is it even profitable? i played 2 last night, came 3rd in both and make 60% roi and kinda feel like i got robbed, still....

They might as well make the rake 88% if that is how they try to run a decent room.

Try party poker the Mtt's are as good as any site and the sng's work out less than 10%.A $1.10 is $1.02 - .08

Yeah 20% rake seems excessive - 10% would be more standard and expected I would have thought.

Tournament Rake

Multi-table tournaments and sit & go rake is charged as a "fee" and is included in the buy-in information. Tournament rake is usually up to 10% of the buy-in.

For example, if you are playing in a multi-table tournament that is listed as $20+2, $20 goes towards the prizepool and $2 is the rake paid to the house as an entry fee.

For sit and go's at 888 the varies by buy in and type.

$0.10 10 player turbo pays $0.80 and rakes $0.20 (20%)

$0.40 10 player pays $3.40 and rakes $0.60 (15%)
$0.40 10 player turbo pays $3.50 and rakes $0.50 (12.5%)

$1 9 player pays 7.65 and rakes $1.35 (15%)
$1 9 player turbo pays $8.10 and rakes $0.90 (10%)

$3 9 player pays $24.30 and rakes $2.70 (10%)
$3 9 player turbo pays $24. 30 and rakes $2.70 (10%)

After that $5 games are 10%, $10 games are 9%, $20 games are 8.5%

So it seems the unreasonably high rakes are confined to the lowest buy-ins, for now.

i guess i shoulda scrolled further past 10 and 40 cents, i checked both and almost cried lol.

mind you the whole first page was 50 cents and less, i probably should have checked the higher micro stakes myself. they always gotta punish the bottom of the pyramid though, huh? the higher you climb the less rake you pay lol seems as backwards as our tax system :p

Hello.
Maybe you are right. But I also noticed this, and in my opinion it is unfair.
