Wynn Resorts is proposing a plan to re-open their poker rooms. The plan includes innovative non-invasive temperature checks utilizing thermal cameras as each patron enters the room. If a temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit is detected, the patron will then be taken to a private room to recheck the temperature. The proposal also included sanitizing the playing area frequently including the card shufflers and chips.

Do you think the plan laid out would be enough to convince the government to allow the casino to re-open? (more details in the article)

There are lots of people that are spreading the virus that do not have a fever! The virus will spread on the cards with little difficulty. Card rooms should be allowed to open only when a vaccine has become available to general public in 2 or 3 years time.

While I appreciate the Wynn's efforts, I don't think that will be enough to both change the health advisories decisions as well as the feelings of many poker players. Temperature is not enough of an indicator of whether someone potentially has it or not, so the passing around of cards and chips could make this way too easy of a way to transmit.

The cards and chips will spread the virus, not sure how they can make it safe really. Some people touch their nose and mouth without thinking about it.

Each dealer comes with a spray bottle full of bleach. When you touch your face... they spray your face.

With bleach.

Wynn could reopen, but the question is who would actually go there to play. My guess that the vast majority of players will be either pros or regs. Without the suckers, it will not take long until the two above mentioned categories start to play less.
Not to mention the liability. Imagine otherwise healthy players dying after catching the COVID-19 at the Wynn, and their families filling lawsuits against the casino, either separately or as a class action.

I think it’s too early to reopen poker rooms right now. That said, it seems like the US is staring to reopen a lot of things even though they have over 4x more cases than the next highest country and are still increasing way higher than any other country. I don’t understand the US some times.

It would be very unwise to go to a live poker room and play at this time. All the safety precautions in the world wouldn’t help once the virus is at the table. Unless each player was in a bubble and not touching cards or chips / exchanging germs and bacteria is impossible.

It seems good to me, trying to take the corresponding measures for the well-being of all the participants and employees, which is the most important

Its nice to see they are being proactive and that's nice but not everyone has a fever and i think you could be contagious prior to showing the systems. I grateful there effort but I still would not want to go to the card room at this time and trust me........ I want to go to the card room.

Are they going to allow players and dealers to wear masks? Not sure I'm in a hurry to sit down at a table with all of the surfaces we touch when we play.

If they do, I'm going to start wearing a lucha mask that has its mouth covered. Gives me an excuse to wear a lucha mask in public.

I think possibly using thin clear large trash bags to cover the chairs could be used, each player could have one and it moves with them thus eliminating constant cleaning of chairs. Also possible to have the dealers give out tight fitting rubber gloves to be used only while seated at the table... just thoughts...

Unfortunately this plan does not seem enough, this virus has hit us with everything, first the loss of human life, which is the most regrettable and second, the world economy, I understand that they are losing a lot of money and are trying to find solutions for this but it does not seem convincing. risk of contagion is very big and I don't think the authorities allow it

It’s a nice thought and I’d love to get back to playing live poker. However, the fear of bringing home something that could kill my family members is going to keep me away until there is a reasonable expectation that the virus is done. I’m afraid, and hope that I’m wrong, we are in for another spread because we’re trying to rush back into things. I understand everyone needs to work to pay their bills but it’s hard to spend money in a coffin.

One way to deal with it is to wear a mask and gloves. Everyone are asked to wear the same, or the casino will hand out protection. That would reduce the risks of getting it, if you try to touch your face the mask will prevent you from do something stupid, like licking your finger.

Hi there. It has no sense to re open casinos while Covid 19 is killing thousands of US citizens..It would be so risky for players..Unfortunately,casinos will keep losing money but our lives are more important..

Also, I am not so sure they will be making much given not everyone is going to have money to spend with the downswing of the overall economy.

I think its too soon, and I am not sure how profitable they would even be with less patrons and having to pay for all the extra precautions.
