I think the elimination was the correct penalty.

What he said was wrong, I am not going to dispute it. But to rile someone up with your banter, and one word comes out of the other guys mouth and he is disqualified? I think it is a bit much. So is it going to be a go to thing. Make someone call you a racial slur and he or she is out.

It is a rule though and should be enforced. I would have had no idea of such a rule, but then again I would never have said what he did. A great time to use your headphones so not to get so aggravated.

I do think that when someone is giving another player a lot of aggravation it should be put to a stop as well.

Good luck with that approach. I'd rather make someone flop the second nuts while I flop the nuts.

I just want to say that not all racial slurs are created equal. Things that evoke genocide or slavery are the worst of the worst. I won't sit here and start ranking slurs, but you get the point. I think a DQ was the right call; hit the road jack; seat open.

One very bad word. And you can't make someone call you a racial slur. And nobody should have to wear headphones to avoid hearing one.

You are suggesting that everyone who is not racist should have to wear headphones just so they never hear racial slurs???

This was not just aggravating talk and should not be put in the same category. There should be zero tolerance for racism everywhere - including in poker games. Penalties should be severe.

I think he definitely deserve to be eliminated from the tournament and it was good they did that. It will show others that that won't be tolerated at the table... I don't think he needs a lifetime ban hopefully he will come back and have learned his lesson...... in future...

I also think that he deserves to be eliminated from the event. Racism has no spot at the poker table, or anywhere else for that matter. This kind of thing just can't slide even at the biggest event. I am glad they decided to do something.

Not what I meant, I meant that if you have a problem with someone talking and getting you so upset you resort to senseless name calling. You should be wearing headphones and not listening to fellow players. In no way do I condone what the player in question said. It has no place in the games.

I think it all started when he lost a big pot against the man. He never regained his composure after that. He should have taken a break from the table and not have let his emotions get the better of him.

I do realize that when in the game some players try to harass other players to get them off of their game. In this case the guy who said the slur, should have been wearing headphones since the other player got under his skin.

So, if the person disqualified is a repeat offender, then what?

Then he would have to be banned permanently. In this day you have to know that some things just should not be said.

It is harder to make myself clear about what I am saying sometimes on a forum post. As seen by the response to one of my statements. I hope I cleared up any misunderstanding about what I posted earlier.

I think the elimination from the tournament is completely justified. Racial slurs should never be tolerated. A ban would be too much unless he's a repeated offender.

When it comes to getting our point across through type, we have all been there at one time or another, and have been misunderstood. One thing I have tried to remember (over the years) and it works for me (most times :)) just re-read what you have typed and maybe edit when you think it needs to be. Don't worry, you are doing great so far!

That's cool how if someone doesn't see things exactly like you they get labeled a racist...neat to redefine a word that you can sling around and vilify people that may have a different take...very very mature and you topped it off with the "duh"

btw...I looked the definition up here ...https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/racist

and it said nothing about disagreeing with you

Should be banned for 5 years....
A 1 year ban is nothing and the same as just a DQ.

I think disqualification is fair if there is no rule against it. that is, if they are relying on the last rule in the book "tournament director has discretion to...." but at least a year ban if there is an actual rule against offensive language. I was pretty sure one of the TV poker guys got a few round penalty for an F-bomb against a player, so i'm going to assume that there is a rule and a long ban would be best to discourage this.

they do need the cardrooms/casinos to have the same sort of justice unless they want problems to spiral like they have on a national level already.

Personally for whatever the terms. White man or black man are racial slang
Example white man “yo my n——-“
Example black man “yo my n——-“
It’s doesnt care, he is should banned for 1 tournament.
If he is still going racial slurs then 1 year.
So on
You understand me?
