i think it's a good decision made by her and as far as her wondering how she will live without the pokerstars money i'm sure she'll find other ways.....

now maybe if a handful of others follow the same suit they could get together and potentially provide a way of a new site opening up so that pokerstars may finally have some competition to make them rethink some of their ideas....

wishful thinking i guess

I respect her decision, but I can`t agree with her. poker sites make money out of addiction just like any casino. You can lose your house playing cash games. So when she was promoting PS she was "helping to send people to a place where they would encounter something I think is dangerous."

Good for her and good for poker.

Unfortunately and ironically it plays in to their hands as pokerstars is reducing it's pro numbers anyway it makes it easier for them, but it does take away their leading lady and the only two time ept winner.

I agree with her, I preferred the old pokerstars values.
I also would rather see silly money grabbing games kept separate from online poker sites.
Another missed opportunity by the money grabbing legislators to recognise the difference and do something useful ensuring a separation of licenses.

One of the things that I truly like about pokerstars is that you're not continually harrassed to play casino games like on 888 and party poker.("have a free bet this weekend" etc...). I respect Victoria's position and just have to hope that PokerStars doesn't become another 888 or Party Poker where everytime you open a webpage you get a pop up screen advertising pokerstars. I think this is a serious step towards error for Pokerstars. Will they rebrand it as Casinostars?

i respect people who place principls over profits. If it didnt feel right, then she did the right thing. Dont know what she was making as a team pro so i can say if it was worth it or not.

Agree in part but I think she made it clear her specific issue was that there is (from her perspective) a
difference between the essentially fair nature of poker, where we all take each other on with the same basic chance, and those casino games at unfavourable odds

I don't think she was suggesting that people couldn't get in bad situations playing poker

I have respect for her decision and i understand her action. I myself dont like to play against the house in games that the odds are against me. But from time to time when at a casino i will play the slots but when i do i dont expect to win lol. And to play a slot machine online i think is very foolish but more power to people that like this. On another note with casinos on a poker site might be good for poker players for the house wont look for ways to take our money though questionable actions which we all have seen. I dont think there is a site that hasnt taken value from me like with tourney tickets to points earned and straight up burnt me for cash. But all that is another story. I have one more thing to say to Victoria you go girl!!!

This for so many times. I hope that it'll also courage other sponsored players to make a stand, if and when poker site does changes they can't support with clean conscience.

Respect Mrs Vicky Coren on your decision.
Principles are very importants and it have to be considered before business decisions
Hopefully that one day we will get a room like pokerstars before amaya introduce lottery and casino play.

Yeah it was a fair move. She has feelings towards poker and casinos and made her decision.
I think this measure of PS will be good for PS and poker players (since casino attracts more players to poker).

I posted on the news article, well done to VC on this issue I applaud her...
...why do poker operators think poker players want to play casino games any more than any other person?
I have no interest whatsoever in casino games.

I like Vicky and i respect her decision, but i must say that i respect even more Colman and his decision to not promote poker.

I think that your approach is a little misguided. While Colman isn't promoting poker, it isn't stopping him from playing it and profiting from it. Coren, on the other hand, is foregoing income because of what PokerStars is doing. I think her principles are more in line with what she is practicing than Colman's is.

Now here is an interesting question.....Has she ever worn a casino's patch when at the tables??? I don't think I have ever seen her do it, but maybe somebody out there has.

Yes, because playing a $1million poker tournament on a big stage with ESPN isn't promoting poker?

What colman says just contradicts what he says about promoting poker. If you didn't want to promote poker, you wouldn't play any live events to start with especially all the biggest tournaments out there which rely on poker pros and these business men making appearances to promote the game. Most are always aired on TV at some stage, so if that's not promoting poker at it's most I don't know what is.

I have infinitely more respect for her than I do for Dan Colman.

This is probably better said in a different thread since this is about Vicky Coren, but as far as Colman is concerned, if he doesn't want to be an ambassador for poker and just wants to play and just be another face in the crowd, I won't hold that against him.

That said, I do regard her very highly, both at the tables when I have seen her play, and with her integrity as far as the stance she took regarding PokerStars.

It will be interesting to see if any others will follow suit, as many of you have already said.
