Eh...

I guess I am torn 80% think its dumb, 20% alright.

I would say for the most part, let people play with their money ... leave them alone. However, there are probably people playing that are being funded through organized crime or some other illegal activities.

Since it doesn't apply to me, I would be annoyed if they checked to see how I am playing (assuming I am 100% legal with my daily lifestyle).

I think that they should check I wouldn't want to be playing along with some who is associated with criminal activity.

That makes no sense, a very good criminal, would check out, so what good would it do you would still be playing alongside a criminal. It would just catch the bad criminals! LOL

It's not so much about 'finding' a criminal. It's about finding the SOURCE of large amounts of cash ... and maybe WHERE the reclaimed cash goes to.

In casinos, an individual can walk into a casino with cash and buy chips, play high stakes tables for a while, and then cash in the chips. They take payment in a check, or get a receipt, claiming it as gambling winnings.

New regs would help keep drug and other illegal cash out of the casino cash flow.

When FinCEN goes after the "real" criminals in the banking and investment sectors, who are making billions of dollars through shady and illegal activities, then maybe I'd be okay with them doing this.

LOL. You don't seriously think everyone that walks into the casino, or plays online, is playing with "clean" money, do you?? If so, you are poorly mistaken... There are plenty of players playing with "dirty" money, and you probably play with some of them daily online, and every time you play at the casino.

I think that the casino shouldn't give two shits where you money comes from, as long as it isn't counterfeit. Though most casino's probably won't admit it (or have anyway of proving it) I'd assume there is plenty of money thrown around at the casino, that was derived from illegal activity. Just because the money may have been obtained illegally, that doesn't change the fact that it is still money, worth face value, that any casino wouldn't mind having (as well as myself.) I highly doubt your saying you wouldn't keep or want the money if you won it from a player that was possibly a drug dealer... If it bothers people that much, maybe poker isn't for them in the first place, as I could see them having a hard time with "stealing the blinds," :D Cause we all know stealing is bad, and criminals do it!;)

Background checks for gambling? Something is rotten in Denmark.
