We got all sorts of hopeful for July 15 and were disappointed. Since then it's been "it's coming" with few hints at when. Deep dives into any relevant information reveal little, but here's the latest.

Reporting cited the DOJ's Wire Act position as a possible reason for the delay because of the uncertainty it creates. After all, who would launch only to be shutdown in quick order? The DOJ was challenged in the courts and lost, mostly. We're currently 34 days into the allowed 60 day appeal period, and so far the DOJ has said nothing and made no legal moves. But there's really no way to know if they've accepted the decision or if they have gone "into the tank" so to say.

Almost countering the DOJ thought process, the PGCB said a platform could launch anytime one was ready. They implied they were reviewing prospective sites, but there were still regulatory issues standing in the way. Meaning their stringent standards might be the obstacle creating the delay. However, they did state that any player pooling discussions would be off the table until the DOJ issue was throughly vetted and put to bed. It is totally possible that new states will legalize poker, launch, and then join the NJ, NV, DE player pool before PA even takes ANY action. They're just so unlikely to be the first new state to join the pool. They'll want to let states like MI, NY, CA, or IL (any other state, really) be the guinea pig and see how they are handled. That's good/bad news, mostly because if online poker fails in a small state, it's possible online poker can still expand, but if it fails in PA, it likely not going to be tried by any other state, ever.

Hollywood casino says they hope to launch by the end of the year, but didn't reveal with which partner. Their parent company, Penn National Gaming, has an agreement with pokerstars in 22 states, but not one in PA. PokerStars has been very vocal about wanting to crush the PA market because they see it as key to their planned dominance in the (projected) broader US market. But, their stated partner in PA is the Mt. Airy Casino, not Hollywood. Hollywood wants to be first in market and so does Stars and they both talk like they will be, so who knows.

There are a few rumors that there's a second, as-yet-unnamed site, that's also hoping to launch in 2019, possibly by the end of summer [09/23]. Those in-the-know point to 888.com or wsop.com as the likely 2nd candidate.

Following this has been frustrating because so many of the rumors are 2nd hand and overlap which, and that makes any actual news seem like mear conjecture at this point.

I expect things to continue like this until Halloween-ish and then we'll get some concrete information. But honestly, I'm totally guessing and hope springs eternal. The reality is, based on what's KNOWN, it could just as easily be 8 weeks or 8 months away.

The suspense is getting old, it's a pity we all as Americans lost this undeniable right. Now we have to wait out the political show in order to get back on track. Staying patient, and really hoping it's not all gonna be a big mess when it's back up in PA. Long live online poker!

Update on online poker in PA.

The funny thing is that these news sites that reported July 15th as the opening for online poker in PA has no sources or evidence that directly confirmed their “July 15” speculation. It was all based on word of mouth because everyone assumed online poker would be released with online casino.
That being said, I’m disappointed as hell too. At this rate, there’s no guarantee it’ll even be released this year.

I've been unable to find anything confirming the 08/27 rumor and at this point I half-hope it's not true. A launch now would come with no fanfare and/or promotion (as in zero). I can't help but feel that success or failure in PA will have much further reach than the boarders of the keystone state.

I want a little "coming soon" or "join us on September XX, 2019" hype in advance, otherwise the launch will just be a handful of players passing the same 20 bucks back and forth (and paying rake). Nothing kills traffic faster than lack of action and (U.S.) online poker needs PA's traffic potential realized.

Just a little response off of this . I was just in Costa Rica at the wpn offices . They stopped processing credit cards for the only reason that it illegal for United States banks to do any business with online gambling . This is why bitcoin is the widely accepted currency of online poker .
Just wanted to put it out there that I don’t see how they would have anything to do with your credit card information getting leaked . I see a lot of hate on the internet over acr and credit cards and i firmly believe it’s all unwarranted .

On the other hand being a New York native and moving back to the region soon I was really excited to hear PA was introducing online poker as it just helps in boxing in the competitive New York poker soon . I know I will be supporting mount airy just for that reason . I hope you guys get it as online slots seems like such a waste of legislature

...Still nothing and the rumors seemed to have stopped.

The common theme is there's nothing legally stopping a launch, it's just that nobody is ready yet. Seems odd, but that's the "word on the street".

Very disappointing, it seems like it will never happen. Can't get my hopes up, but I remain hopeful.

Im rooting for yah! At least you know it's coming eventually. Now in Ohio.,... its hopeless. But at least we have medicinal cannabis... oh wait those laws are absolutely terrible. Yay Ohio!

In all seriousness, I live 15 min from PA border, and will consider going on little field trips if pokerstars or 888 become a thing ;)

No definitive PA poker timeline per PGCB as of Oct.2

Who do you think is holding things up? The PGCB, the casinos or the poker sites. Could it be a question of profits?

Fed up!

Honestly, living in PA and playing poker on ACR or wherever doesnt leave me wondering when poker will be "legit". I mean obviously we want the option of regulated sites, but we are making money regardless(if your any good). For now, the wait and see is for the other states waiting for the domino to fall. I'm not stressing it from instate lol:elefant:

Three months of the Gaming Board saying that at least one provider is close, and can launch whenever they want, but there's currently no testing scheduled.

They make it sound like the hold up is because none of the hosts are ready. Not a one. But I have a hard time picturing a world where that's true. We're talking about sites that are already approved and licensed like sites stars, 888, and wsop. This isn't Dutch Boyd's pokerspot or some mom-and-pop start up. How can they not have their act together?

Nothing adds up.

PA LAUNCH SET FOR NOV. 4TH!

The Mount Airy casino (PokerStars) and the Pennsylvania gaming board have announced the launch of online poker in Pennsylvania!

The "soft" launch and testing phase will begin on November 4th.

With the other casinos that launched in Pennsylvania, the testing phase meant limited hours with a full launch 3 days later.

Shuffle up and deal.
