Less than a week after the official launch of regulated online gaming in New Jersey I was looking for some good information on the results so far. I found some a good article by John Mehaffey at 4Flush.com.

Some of the interesting statistics:

Six of the seven Atlantic City casinos that were issued licenses were able to pass the testing phase. They were:
  • Bally’s
  • Borgata
  • Caesars
  • Tropicana
  • Trump Plaza
  • Trump Taj Mahal
Golden Nugget experienced issues and was not able to complete the soft launch. It is still restricted to limited play.
There are 12 websites that are approved are:
  • Borgatapoker.com (poker only)
  • Borgatacasino.com (casino only)
  • Partypokernj.com (poker and casino)
  • Harrahscasino.com (casino only)
  • WSOP.com (poker only)
  • US.888.com (poker and casino)
  • US.888poker.com (poker only)
  • US.888casino.com (casino only)
  • Caesarscasino.com (casino only)
  • Tropicanacasino.com (casino only)
  • Virgincasino.com (casino only)
  • Betfaircasino.com (casino only)
  • Ucasino.com (casino only, poker forwards to Ultimatepoker.com)
Also:
The ranking of New Jersey online poker sites in terms of traffic is:
  1. Party Poker/Borgata
  2. WSOP
  3. 888
  4. Ultimate Poker
betfair is not represented on Pokerscout. It appears that it would place last.
You can check out the entire article here - including the main issues players are facing:

Hope you all realize how lucky you are out in jersey! Don't take one hand for granted! The rest of American are playing on off sites and crossing their fingers that their checks don't bounce. You have been given the golden ticket so just remember all our suffering while you play real, regulated, American poker!

I haven't tried any deposits at any sites yet, but here's one quick update. A few of the sites are saying they offer free $10, 20, 50 or w/e to ppl who sign up even without a deposit. Well I have received nothing from any site. Haven't went the email route yet but will try that I guess and give another update.

I recieved a $50 free bonus from borgata during soft opening, i recieved $10 from party poker, $10 from caesarscasino, $10 from betfair, 888 is the only one i havent gotten the bonus from that i tried...

Now depositing was a little more tricky.. I had a prepaid visa card that ive always used for the us accepting sites.. Went to deposit and the bank declined it..
Im guessing because on the other sites the charge never showed up as a gambling site, alot of banks still have bans on processing to gambling site..

I read that theres only like 15% of visa card providers that allow it but 80% of mastercard. I went and got a paypal mastercard and yahtzee my deposit went right through.. Oh btw im domeburglar on borgata site if anyone wants to add me as a friend!

In all reality, our money is a lot safer on networks like WPN and Revolution than you think. The FedGov really has no jurisdiction over them whatsoever and they're operating in a relative grey area of the law.

The only downside to them is the lack of traffic compared to the big sites like pokerstars but according to PokerScout Winning Poker Network has much, much more traffic than any of the NJ regulated sites do so far.

It could be better but it could also be worse.

So basically while you are in NJ, you can only play people in NJ on a Borgata software?
I am just trying to figure out what it exactly is. How would this be better than what is available now....like Bovada?

Because its "legal" and you don't have to worry about your money disappearing one day.

I think it is very dumb that the sites are pooling together as of now, but hope it will be soon. We need ALL states to be on this! NY and CA would be huge.

This is better because if i want to cash out.. No more waiting weeks for a check and when it finally comes hoping it doesnt bounce.. Now i can click withdraw drive down to the casino and get my money in cash! the player pool isnt huge yet but i expect it to grow steadily once more and more people get into it..

You can only play within the borders of NJ... Anybody can play though, not only nj residents.. If you come on vacation or something and sign up.. As long as the computer you play from is inside the NJ state line your good to go

Wow, that's cool! I need to get me a laptop, my old one died a long time ago. Or maybe they have tablet clients out now? So if you sign up as an out of state but temporarily inside NJ person, it must ask for your address, and there must be a checkbox somewhere that says "let me play only when I'm in NJ".

I also wonder how the cash out procedure would work if someone like me traveled to NJ to play on some rooms.
