Tom Dwan and full tilt poker have opted not to renew his contract - this has been confirmed by FTP.

Tom was 1 of 3 "Professionals" at FTP - along with Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Gus Hansen.

There have been no reasons given for the split - but Dwan has been missing from major FTP events lately and did not finish his online challenge with Dan "Jungleman" Cates.

He has not played much online but has been present at some live events.

I'm not surprised by this news, last year he was often seen at the tables and on the internet too little news about him ..For a professional FTP is not enough, need more advertising

Maybe he´ll end at pokerstars? It´s true I didn´t hear of him for quite some time but I hope he didn´t end his poker career.

He s seen at the high stakes tables in Macau latley. So he prefers live poker instead of online in the moment. He still makes money wirh poker and is free to play what he wants and not what apoker site orders him to play ( like durr challange)

I think with his inactivity this was inevitably going to come to be the case IMO, I mean you can't really have a PRO as the face of your poker site and they never play there. Besides this is probably more beneficial to him to be released (granted I don't know how much $$$ he was making from his deal) because now he could play on PokerStars where there is actually some traffic in the high stakes games.

All that aside obviously he is making more money in the games he has been playing in macau then what the ftp contract was worth to him, or obv he would have put in minimum time to keep the ftp contract. Just my thoughts, maybe FTP will run a competition for their next joe bloe poker pro :D

Dwan is not as good of a high stakes online cash game player as he was in the past with the better competition today, so it is not worth it for him to invest his time/money in playing online when he can play live where his strengths lie

I am not surprised by this new too. He was missing from the biggest FTP events. And the other reason is his not best online career he is lot more better in live poker it is right to invest his money there.

The fact that Tom Dwan has been missing tournaments and hasn't been online much has nothing to do with them letting him go..

The truth is Full tilt is saving up all the money they can to sponsor me, and I'm not even allowed to play there

I don't think his heart was in the the second time round after all the grief he got from the fiasco with the stolen funds the first time......yes I know it wasn't his fault but the guy got hounded for awhile....so I think he reluctantly agreed to sign a second time and show face for a short period of time before doing his own thing......and I don't blame him.

That sucks. He is one of my fave players. I wonder where he'll end up.

It’s a shame, he seems to have lost his interest in online poker.
We need all the faces we can get out there, especially here in the US.

This stinks. Tom Dwan is one of my favorite players to watch...can't help but wonder why the split happened and where he will end up?

Maybe he's moving back to Jersey :p

That's not a confidence problem that's an AA losing to flopped sets and my Set of Kings losing to rivered straights

I highly doubt he will end up with Stars. I believe if they were taking him over to stars, he would have been announced as pro already and secondly he has been almost non existent since the re launch of Full Tilt other than a few large sessions.

I'm pretty sure Dwan spends all of his time playing live nosebleeds in Macau, that's what ive read at least. I figure if there are enough whales he'd never leave. Apparently the blinds can get up to like 5k/10k there... no joke

I also wouldn't be a surprised if he goes through the normal poker player swings of playing too much, getting off his game, needing a break, etc.

 I doubt it, someone who truly loves the game will never retire. Take the godfather himself, might not play as much but certainly will be playing the game until the end of his road. I'd like to win millions in the lotto so I could "retire" and play poker all the time LOL
