True, but it hints at a situation much worse, and more personal than what US players are experiencing. It does fit into an as yet to be defined 'General online poker (OLP) woes'.

So where are these bombshells? Was expecting some blond's here really.
Well, here in the USA, the DOJ just closes sites down and freezes the funds, we don't try to get taxes as of yet!!
I'm sure global taxes will be coming down the road the way the global economy is!

This is not good for online poker. I hope that other countries do not do the same to their players.

Unfortunate news to hear. Just gotta hope that the online poker rulings will change in our favor soon enough.

If they wanted taxes off the amounts that I win,,, they wouldn't even break even on the amount the paper form cost them...

It's really not as bad as it looks. This only applies to players who have played on poker sites or in live events outside the European Economic Area (EEA). There are plenty of poker sites within the EEA which are all tax free and this is where most Swedes choose to play if they're at all familiar with our tax laws of online gambling.

It's an ongoing trend. When the governments are trying to scrape few pennies here and there to balance the budget they are looking to find some place that can increase revenue quickly and poker which is part of gambling money is an easy target. By the time every country finishes imposing crazy taxes on this game making any money in this game will become almost impossible.
