Mr. Money maker is a legend. I love how the credit was given to him for contributing to the "gold rush", When he won the wsop in 2003 i was 19 years old and that one moment i credit for starting my poker craze, I have had break-ups, awesome bank deposits, and tons of lost time in losses to thank poker for lol. When it all comes down to it, Poker is without a doubt the best sport in the world, I would hope and imagine some distant world in this universe playing the same game to some extent, and can't wait for the day i get invited to the IGTXT, The InterGalaxial Texas Holdem Tournament, that'll be one hell of a prize fund!:)

Seems pretty spot on to me?

agreed, online poker is in a severe decline. If you look at any poker room online these days you will almost alwyas find a sportsbook or casino attached to it.

Not many how much it actually costs to get new players to a poker room. Sites make way more money on casinos and books than they do with poker rooms. Ill have to find the information and post it, but it reads something about how the amount of money spent on bringing in a new poker player versus a casino is about 50x as much

More and more sites are adopting a no reg policy as they dont like people cashing out. party poker, Bovada, Bwin and all the major rooms excpet PS have some type of systme to keep regs out. Whether it be severe limits on cashouts, limiting amount of tables or even to go as far as Everleaf did when they wouldnt let you play at certain tables if you won over X amount.

The Gold Rush is certainly way behind us, but there is still money to be made. I expect another boom once the US legalizes it

Take a look at this artical from Christmas eve showing which of the Major World Wide Casino Operators are Partnering up with Which of the Major poker sites.
Maybe its just me but I can totally see that they are just getting all their ducks in a row, relocating this multi billion dollar industry over to Las Vegas, Macau, Atlantic City, Monty Carlo, & Nassau ( probably where it belongs).

I for one, cant wait until there is a local B&M I can gripe to when my withdrawal takes more than an hour to hit my bank.

I don't only because I don't think the "US" is going to legalize it. Certain states are and that will further fracture the player pools because you're delusional if you think NV players are going to get to play with NJ players or any other states. By the time the Feds get in on the game the states will have it so ****ed up it'll be forever broken.

Imo, online poker like we used to have where the US player could compete against players from every other state and the rest of the world is nearly dead.

It seems like the live casinos are also downsizing or eliminating their poker rooms. It takes too many employees to run tournaments, they don't make much if any money, they just hope u will put your winnings in the slots on the way out(notice the poker room is always at the back)

Do you guys really think these major corporations would pile millions into these "Play" sites if there was nothing to gain down the road. Like the Nugget's site below, they are ready to throw the switch just as soon as they get the green flag. Most of these sites are actually better than most of the current real sites.

Do you think thats an explosive Lark Marlo next to me? :D

We can thank Obamanomics for this one, and it is only going to get worse b4 it gets better.

"I Have A Dream...."
I have no plan or clue how to make it a reality, but oh what a dream.......

Yeah this is very accurate tbh. It's sad for those of us that enjoy the game but the fact is the US is never going to come back to the worldwide player pool.

I don't think online poker is dead though. What would properly kill it is if the rest of Europe followed france's lead and segregated their player pools from the worldwide market.

Even though the US may be viewed as a little backward in the eyes others, I gotta think that a nation that has begun to embrace gay marriage and legalized pot will come around to online poker.

????You been in a cave???? "The Moneymaker Effect" is a part of every poker dictionary. It marks B.C. (Black Friday marks A.D.)
So yeah, his name will go down in history.

And yeah, this being left to the individual states could put it into an irreparable state to get a federal stamp of approval.

I do not get what is so hard about legalizing online poker. If congress is worried about minors playing then get rid of all gambling, alcohol, cigarettes, race tracks, bingos etc...
