Just received this email today from skrill. :(

This will significantly change things for me. I regularly play on many sites & with Skrill I'm able to spread my bankroll around & move money regularly (often daily).

 WTF is going on with canada, or well with Skrill relating to Canada. Couple this with the recent blip with Titan and I know things almost appear as though they are getting shaky.

I mean skrill (used to be the old moneybookers if I recall correctly, but correct me if I'm wrong) was pretty much accepted anywhere so you could do as you did PO because it was so quick going on and off the sites. That is kinda shitty.

It just keeps getting harder and harder. Hopefully, when and if they legalize online poker funding, it will get better. I still think even then, we'll be wishin' for the good old days.....

That ^ happened to me with 'eppassporte'. I'd just set up account, made a few deposits, paid for & sent away for the 'card'... then they ceased processing for pokersites :(

I am devastated - this is crazy!
Have no idea where all this is coming from.
At least we have a notice time... I guess.
BUT IT SUCKS!!!!

There are other ways - but they are difficult slow and clumsy in comparison.

DAM DAM DAM

I guess we will never know WHYYY???

Ontario's Lottery and Gaming Corporation has said that it hopes to enter the internet gaming market next year in partnership with some established gaming companies. Perhaps behind the scenes discussions regarding this effort are somehow connected.

Last month, Skrill received permission to conduct transactions for companies serving the fledgling market of online gambling in New Jersey. It is possible that the condition of obtaining a license was phased activities on gray markets such as Canada. In addition, the company recently changed owners and the new owners of CVC Capital Partners may not be such a risk appetite, as the previous owners.

This is part of the equation with Skrill. 'Risk appetite' is the core issue going back to Neteller, and bodog's original Canuck owner now safely divested and offshore. Nobody wants to mess with US DOJ... and Canada is in the pocket of US corporate and government agendas, as is Skrill... and so this is the latest example. I will be all withdrawn from most sites by the deadline. RIP Skrill.... although I imagine we account for less than 5% of their action... they will be fine...

EDIT: BTW it is 'grey' dammit, not 'gray' eh?

Any thoughts about what you folks will be using 'apres Skrill'?

I've never done 'bank transfer'. Have always made deposits with MC GiftCards & Skrill. I don't even know what's involved in the process :(

I've begun making withdrawals off of sites with small amounts & will likely just keep bankrolls on 4 sites - Stars, FTP, WillHill, Party (& a few others open just for CC games, etc.). I'm so used to being able to rapidly move money around that I never even bother to think about BRM or anything of the sort.

I just set-up an "instadebit" account.
It is easy, some of my friends have used it before and were highly recommending it.
They have a very good on line support - that answered all my questions. The answers are VERY GOOD! I have made a deposit using it, went through instantly. There are some charges - but really small.
There are a good number of sites that use this as a processor ie - williamhill, Titan, intertops, 888Poker, partypoker and of course pokerstars/Fulltilt.

There seems to be something going on behind the scenes in the banking sector, which is leading to payment processors and poker sites leaving the country.

I'm wondering if it's old legislation the ConBots are enforcing, or if there's new legislation that was hidden within that huge omni-bus crime bill a year ago, which is causing all of this.

Hoping they will re consider this. They must have been making a good amount of money from not only Canadians, but from Americans who have moved to Canada to play poker.

Skrill withdrawal attempts turn into early Christmas present(s)

With Skrill's services coming to a close (re: pokersites) for Canadians, I've been trying clean up a bunch of small bankrolls across a number of sites (ie. some of which I hadn't previously deposited with Skrill).
On most it has been a fairly easy process, typically getting the money off the site(s) within 72hrs. On others it has not been so simple (going to make a thread in pokerrooms section, outlining which sites have been a pain in the arse... ie hidden fees/requirements, etc. & which ones are real easy & fast).

Most of the iPoker network (Playtech) have been straightforward/easy but had a bit of deal with 'MyBet'. First it was my verification needed to be sent in again. Then I needed to make 'another' deposit (last one was more than 6mos. ago).
Then they said I needed to wager the amount I'd deposited prior to making a withdrawal (on some sites I needed to deposit just to increase the amount on the site so I'd have enough to meet the min. amount for withdrawal).

I was a bit bummed.... I really didn't want to play on myBet & had just deposited another 20 euros on there :(

So I decided I'd wager the 20euros on a bet. Went to the sports betting section & couldn't find MMA fights on there or anyother sports I knew much about. Then I noticed 'Skiing'! (I used to be an avid ski racing fan many, many years ago). There was a race the following day > Women's Slalom.
30minutes of research on Women's skiing & I decided to place a bet on 'Marlies Schild' a 21.0 to 1 bet... a bit of a longshot.
And... I won it!! LOL. Over 400 euros won on a site I had no intentions of ever playing on again!

Put in for my withdrawal & it went through in less than 48hrs.

MyBet has also helped me to get on a bit of a roll... I won a 'Free $8 bet' from a deposit bonus game on another iPoker site & once again bet on Skiing (Men's Downhill that ran earlier today). Put the $8 on Erik Guay at 14.0 to 1 & I WON!!! Another $112.00 brings it to over $700. Think I'm going to buy myself a Christmas present today.

This should take the edge off from the sting of Skrill's decision!

Very happy for you!

Thanks JJ. It for sure took the sting out of the Christmas shopping today, lol.

Today I was thinking about how much more I could've taken advantage of having such an easy deposit/withdrawal method. I'm going to have to get a bit more creative in the new year.

Have you setup your "INSTADEBIT" account yet?

Would it be a good idea to have it setup on a separate (new) bank account to avoid any potential problems?
