Seems legalized poker has stalled.

Jeez,

Seems that there is not too much movement on the legalization of on line poker these days. We hear nothing encouraging. For a while there, it looked like we were going to see some movement. But, now seems things have died down.

Poker would be legalized if you just donate 2 million USD to Trump Foundation.
It's just a matter of when they are gonna donate it.

Hay mangel1234. I haven't talked with you in along while. How are you? I been having a lot of medical problems and no way to get in to see a doctor because the lack of money right now.

Ok to comment on the subject of your tread. If you think about it, you should realize that it might as well be legal, because there are 5 or 6 sites that run without any problems from the big dogs up there who get a few pennies and that makes it ok. Money rules before any thing else. Now I'm only talking about the sites that except US players. So Mike that's my 2 cents and what I say is only my opinion. But one thing is a fact. Money can move mountains GL to you Mike

online poker is going through a recession, and legalization requires a lot of expenses for lubricating the necessary screws and wheels in bureaucratic mechanisms. ;)

Scared of status

The status of online Poker has me worried to deposit any real money into any site. Have heard of too many horror stories trying to cash out.: (America the free :\

Yeah, I'd stick to very established sites and bitcoin. It shouldn't be a problem.

New Jersey has had it since 2013, interestingly it's on a slight decline there I read BUT the traffic to live poker rooms in the area is up.

Also Pennsylvania's latest bill just passed a full senate vote to offer up to 12 online poker/online casino licenses in the state and sounds like it'll go through with some changes. It gives first dibs to the 12 brick and mortar casinos in PA and then after 90 days would allow others (aka pokerstars) to buy a remaining license. Player pool wise I read this would be huge as it would encourage sharing pools with next door NJ and also encourage NY to move it along.

As we've seen in NJ, (and most of us see as common sense looking back to the poker boom from 2003-2011) easy, legal access to online poker WILL drive business to brick and mortar casinos.

interstate play is necessary for it to be successful. Anti-poker lobby has been pretty effective.

I heard this recently. I still believe that the path is state by state. Eventually it will go the way of PowerBall and MegaMillions. Just hope I'm alive to see it happen!

Here is how I see the problem ......

It's not an issue that affects a large, or even a small, percentage of the population, so it doesn't get any attention unless the industry is lobbying.

The industry is only interested in lobbying in a few select markets in which they think they can be successful. Their lobbying, naturally, is self serving, and their demands complicate their efforts, bringing naturaly opposition from local gaming interests who see nothing to gain by going along with creating a market for international operators.

Players have been unsuccessful in making it an issue that gets attention, partly from pure apathy, and partly from following the lead of the international operators who are fighting for their own interests, not ours.

Government of, by, and for the people REQUIRES that the people participate in the process. Players are still unable to unite and get a cohesive message to lawmakers.

The absence of that player effort means that the only effort is the effort of the industry and only in a few markets.

The politicians don' t care about cyber pokers :)
It is simply not important in the agendas.

But if millions of voters send letters to these guys, maybe something will be done for poker. (only a dream)

Sadly, your right papa. The U.S. values the almighty $ a little too much. It breaks my heart you can`t see a doctor because of something as silly as money.(Come to canada,we would love you)Best wishes from one of your friends here on CC:D

It's like any other political situation. What the majority wants the majority usually gets. Sadly the majority of people in any country does not play poker online.

The other problem is that the brick and mortar casinos usually have strong political connections and will use these to drive online poker out so that they can get more customers for themselves.

Not so true. More accurate is what those with money want, those with money get.

I don't expect much progress to be made in the next few years. Maybe in 5 - 10 years but for now, no.

There does not seem to be the required political will to get regulated online poker back in the US. It will not climb the priority list until their is enough dollars to get it there.

The online games industry is riddled with attempts to legalize and settle this market, and if it's good in terms of, then you can be sure ... The future of poker is more like his past.

Well put and well said, I think you hit the nail on the head with your interpretation of the situation.

I think the chances of it ever happening would be better if the same passion in American society that exists for DFS(daily fantasy sports) and in some cases medical marijuana:) existed, and showed itself not only in the poker community but in the general population as well.
