Call 1-202-224-3121

If you care about poker you need to take action RIGHT NOW because within the next few hours the house and senate will be deciding on whether to incorporate the "restoration of the wire act" as part of the OMNIBUS SPENDING PACKAGE. This could mean that even the limited options we US based poker players have for online poker could be at risk.

Call your senator or house representative NOW to let them know that they will lose your vote if this "restoration of the wire act" is combined with the omnibus spending package.

Call 1-202-224-3121

find out who your representative is: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/

to find out who your senator is: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

it would be nice to keep a tally here of how many of us CC members called. Can you please post a reply here once you have called both your senators and your representatives. Thanks

If you feel funny about calling please don't. Only when they hear from their constituents will they be more likely to listen to what we have to say. Simply telling them that you are a constituent and that they will lose your support if they allow the restoration of the wire act to be combined with the omnibus spending package is sufficient.

Thanks again for doing your part in keeping online poker alive in the USA>

Thanks for posting this punctual! I called my reps. Looks like the RAWA legislation hasn't been added to the spending bill, but we still need to be vigilant until the lame duck session is over. It's expected Adelson will renew his efforts next year. I'll post an article from OPReport discussing the developments below.

This was a close one (too close!) and it was almost lights out for online poker in the US.

Seems like not that many people on here called. Perhaps you and I made all the difference? LOL.

Seriously though, I wish people would become more proactive about things like this. Otherwise, politicians will do what they want without regard to what the people want.

Unfortunately, when it comes to a bill like the so called CRomnibus, a fringe issue like online gaming is not likely to be a wedge, something that would cause a Congressman to vote one way or another on the entire bill. The real pressure needs to be applied to the leadership, who will be the ones deciding what is in and what is out.

That said, people need to participate in the process and let their elected officials hear directly from them, and not just once in a blue moon, but often, and on a multitude of issues. Political power has not been stolen away from the people by big money interests, the people have abdicated that power through apathy.

So was it included in the omnibus and how would it affect current online poker options for the US?

No, it was not included but it was very close. If it had been attached, it would have been lights out for regulation of online poker in the US, even closing down the existing regulated states (NJ, NV, and DE). It's expected that there will be another push to get this passed in 2015, so we need to remain vigilant.
