vayo should not have gone in with j 10. 2 7 would have been better in that spot. at least he would have had 2 live cards

Crappy part is the fact he is a scammer.

He's known for begging on Vegas floors. Recently railed a pro he didn't know. Followed him after his big cash, begged for 10k. Pro finally gave in, gave him 500 for half a buy in for next event, but he gets half winnings. Gave his money, Qui actually cashed for decent amount in the tournament.. pro texted him asking to collect the 5k or something and Qui replied "**** off you aren't getting your money".

Never heard back from him (this was 2013) and then he saw him on TV and was like... wow. It is being talked about actively on twitter between pros.

Ugly, ugly situation.

What an amazing final table, I loved every minute. The heads-up was a one-man show, not because Gordon Vayo played bad, but because Qui Nguyen was fearless. As the commentators said, Vayo played a bit too passively, but it really came down to Nguyen's aggression and the cards coming his way. I still have the last hour to watch, I'm glad I set up the DVR to tape till 4 am. I'm looking forward to watching it to the final hand. Congrats to all the players for a game well played.

While Vayo needed to be a bit more aggressive he did showcase traditional poker strategy and skillsets. Nguyen's aggression and seeming disregard for traditional poker strategy is, I think, great for business. I think viewers got to see two vastly different poker styles heads up and for rec players I think Nguyen shows (at least on the surface) that you can be reckless, aggressive, and play lots of hands to win big (even if long term you can't because you're not Nguyen). I think it'll spark new interest in poker which had been for a while after black friday had really gone back to analytical, math heavy, silent poker.

I also loved the show of sportsmanship both players demonstrated. That's good for poker in general and shows I think a better image to the general public.

Overall I thought it was a great public showing of poker at it's finest. Although I wish it wasn't going until like 5am est on a weeknight!

I thought his play was borderline insane for a few hands there, but vayo pretty much layed down and took it the whole time. he was afraid to lose and not playing real poker.

After 9 hours of heads-up play with Gordon Vayo - Qui Nguyen won the WSOP Main Event early this morning!

Vayo was the chip leader when heads up started - but Nguyen persevered and took it down

And a comment like this ^ lets us know why it wasn't you sitting there HeadsUp. (I think you're forgetting something.... Vayo can't see the other player's hole cards)

I was so bummed to see the set over set loss for JohnnyBax vs. Vayo :( Started to feel like he was going to make an awesome comeback but it was not to be :(

Vayo played heads up too passive. I thought it was strategy and an hour he would start to play more aggressively, but not.

Sweet so he's the Vietnamese version of Chino Rheem (just type his name in Google if you don't know who he is)! Hopefully it's not true, but anyone that degens off all their money on baccarat sounds shady. Hopefully he spends the money wisely because regardless of his personal traits he played some solid poker!

I just feel like Josephy shot himself in the foot with that call. Josephy called a HUGE shove against a complete ROCK/NIT. Vayo is NEVER shoving light here. What hands is Vayo representing? Only real hand he's beating is AK and we all know Vayo is too passive to play Top pair top kicker like that. Josephy should of found a fold button with bottom set against nitty Vayo.

I watched a few episodes and it was very entertaining this year. Always wonder what it would be like to play. Maybe one day I will find out, then bust out with pocket 10's. lol

Well deserved win for Qui Nguyen, he dominated entire final table, especially heads up against Vayo.

Yeah, but still a shady act. He may have developed some character after those 5 years, but being a degen Baccarat gambler... I'd assume unlikely.

Either way, I like his efforts to donate back to his home country and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Will Kassouf was totally bizarre with his non-stop talking all the time...If he was not so boring for this excess and talked a little less he would had won my preference with his #9highlikeaboss lol Nguyen played very agressive like it is necessary in a HU and despite I play TAG like Vayo but in a HU even in a deep MTT like WSOP ME he should have been played more agressive with more 3-bets light pre-flop or pos -flop when in position even with marginal hands...

I think I saw a thread posted on another forum by Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler saying that it was him that was scammed. Is that what you are referring to?

I was so bummed to see the set over set loss for JohnnyBax vs. Vayo :( Started to feel like he was going to make an awesome comeback but it was not to be :(

I was rooting for JohnnyBax as well to take it down. It wasn't meant to be. Full marks to Qui Nguyen for his play. It's good that somebody who doesn't play GTO won it, and showed that it wasn't a fluke either. All these 20-something wizards are probably a little bitter about the whole things. It's also great that an older player won the whole thing as well.
