Quebec to block Internet ISP for Poker.

I have a question for those in the US: How are you blocked from playing the sites like pokerstars; Is it Stars that blocks you or is it your ISP provider?

I feel we are going to get bad news soon here in Quebec.

By the way I'm really worried about Amaya operating in Quebec. Quebec is a graveyard for companies. The taxes are so high and the government is a bottomless pit when it comes to money.

I believe that in the States it is poker stars and Full Tilt that blocks US customers. If it was the internet providers they would also block the US friendly sites like Black Chip and Carbon.

That's what I thought. I don't know if PokerStars, Fulltilt and others would ban us from Quebec or if they would still allow us to play given that we can find an ISP that will not block us.

Also we could always use a VPN if the sites themselves don't mind letting us do so.

Anyway Quebec is stepping out of their jurisdiction as telecommunications are from the Federal Government. I don't know if the Federal would actually engage in a battle though.

Hope that this doesn't happen!

In the article they said it will be difficult to implement. So let's hope they give up their plans.

Anyway their revenue expectations are way too high. I for one will not play on EspaceJeux.

I hope people will boycott Lotto Quebec in the event that they succeed to ban us from playing.

This would be a shame.. just call the competition "illegal" so that the government or their contributors can monopolize the market.. Are the people not supposed to be free to choose where they want to gamble their money in canada? Or in the U.S. if they want to gamble online at all? Government sucks..
