The End of "The Professionals": Gus Hansen and Viktor Blom No Longer Part of FTP

As announced by Full Tilt on Tuesday, the room has decided not to renew its sponsorship contracts with sweden's Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Denmark's Gus Hansen.

Rumors about changes in the relationships between Full Tilt and the two players started late last week, after the poker room launched a brand new version of its website with no visible reference of Hansen or Blom.

"This follows a year-long review of the Full Tilt brand and a decision to move away from pro-centric advertising to focus on the experiences and stories of the vast majority of our players," the room's spokesperson continued.

The decision to not renew Hansen and Blom's sponsorship contracts comes several months after Tom "Durrrr" Dwan decided to no longer be part of the room's pro team "The Professionals."

Will be interesting to see how they start marketing the site now after dropping their "pro" players.

Not really surprised by this. You can't really have "professionals" who are down $25 million combined, continue to market themselves as "professionals",lol.

The rumours started after Gus Hansen was unable to play the promotional matchup against Vicktor “Isildur1″ Blom. People expecting to see a matchup between the two big named players signed to Full Tilt, but a last minute change was announced, and Jack Cody was replacement for Hansen. The event was streamed.

Remember those crazy games when Isildur first appeared? Wish we could have something like that to watch again.

yeah, its weird. Poker sponsorships used to be so prevalent with hundreds of site pros. Now stars is the only sure I can think of that has a bunch of pros.
I am also interested to see how they're marketing will go now.

This is so lame on their part. All they had was two pros and now they're gone. Full Tilt getting worse by the day even their diamond store have nothing.

I miss the days when you could purchase actual merchandise from the Full Tilt Store. I'm curious as to if anybody on here has a Full Tilt jersey, whether it was baseball, hockey or basketball. If I had purchased one, I would have got the baseball jersey.

Full Tilt was so watered down with so many pro's and the different "classifications" they had. But, of course that was all done via smoke and mirrors based on how they operated their business (using the term operating loosely).

I wonder what happened to the lobster guy though.

I think they need to get away from players who are out there for many wrong reasons. Phil Ivey in court and the other guys losing millions and millions isn't exactly great advertising for the brand. Are there any "nice guys/girls" that the average joe can relate to and enjoy being part of that experience.
What about people outside of Pros who enjoy the game. I think athletes and celebrities seem to resonate well with the general public.

Sometimes i think was it real? How reached Isildur the high stakes?
Isildur build his bankroll on european sites they say...nobody can track or verify this
and the same "did" this Macedo guy, but it was a scam

I think this is normal in the world of poker; including the athletes sponsored by major brands also is the same.
