Doug Polk recently posted a video explaining why he will be streaming on YouTube ustead of Twitch. I understand his desire to be a front runner in a new medium of poker but to give up on twitch becaue he thinks Jcarver has "saturated" the Twitch poker market is a little upsurd in my opinion.

I think if he was more consistant on twitch he may have been able to build a bigger audience than Jason Somerville. I'ts sad to see him give up on Twitch. I really respect Doug Polk and enjoy watching his YouTube videos very much, but YouTube is not designed for streaming live games so the user experience is clumsy at best.

Jason isn't even streaming consistantly this year, so I think Polk should really consider coming on back to Twitch where you have he has an awesome platform to stream games, and an awesome community. I think the key is to grow Twitch, get on board Doug!!

I agree 100% that at least right now Twitch is a much better platform for the viewer for watching these streams. Though given the initial results of the live youtube stream (winning partypoker Powerfest for $270k) and the number of viewers it brought in it probably isn't likely to change anytime soon.

I watched it for a little while, and even though the youtube live chat is for sure behind what Twitch offers it was still definitely watchable. It'll be interesting to see if any effort it put in to improve YouTube live. Browsing the live streams is weirdly difficult to me....if I didn't have a link to it I'm not sure the stream would have been easy to find.

Maybe it is behind, but there was totally no point of reading the chat on twitch when Doug was playing, because of so many trolls... This is probably both combination of lower number of viewers and the fact, that many people on youtube use their real names. Not entirely sure, but atmosphere on youtube seemed much better to me.

Twitch is a very small market still, I think it's good for him. He was normally top of the list when he was doing High stakes cash on twitch , but when he did some 0-10k challenge and wasn't doing well he didn't seem high on he list. I watched him win a couple hundred k a year and a half ago, than he stopped getting online as frequent. He used to share the page with Ryan fee and funny enough Ryan quit abruptly

By the way he did win 270k live streaming on YouTube. There is no doubt this man has some serious skills!

Twitch, as a streaming service, has been pulling some bad moves recently including banning some of their most watched streamers which no doubt has turned a lot of people both streamers and viewers alike away from their services. It's only natural that those turned away would move on to competitor's services like youtube. This goes for poker streams and likewise other stream categories.

I watched that stream, it was really cool :>

BTW. it is really funny, when you see all those comments like "oh, Doug can't play poker, he busted so many tourneys on scoop". But when you think more about how he plays, it turns out that it is "all or nothing" for him. He is able to bluff putting tournament life on stake, he is able to make big calls etc. And yeah, sometimes he is wrong, but then when he manages to run deep, he is not short stack just trying to survive. I think that a lot of people don't understand that, especially when they see his fails when he plays tournaments aggressively.

I'm Moving The Stream To YouTube. - YouTube

Who cares if he streams on Youtube or Twitch, if you like him just watch the stream. What is your problem, that you have to open Youtube, is that so hard? Man, you are freaking me out!

It is generally funny when you here people who have very few poker accolades try to critique the way a professional plays. They are to blind to see that they are thinking about the game on a much higher level. Let the results do the talking!

Agree, doesnt matter if the show is on ABC, CBS, or NBC. So whether Twitch, YouTube, or Facebook live doesnt really matter where the broadcast is from.

Yeah you're definitely right that the signal to noise ratio was way better in the Youtube channel, but to me a lot of the energy was missing at least when I was watching (I wasn't around towards the really late part of the run). As it grows it'll probably change quite a bit, I do usually like the chat part of the streams and if it had been on twitch it would have been a scene. I haven't seen much additional poker content on youtube live since that stream, but I'm not sure really how to look either.

More new users

For anyone whos wants to generate more viewers/subscription Youtube is a better platform. Just think that people fixing their plumping check out youtube for an instructional video. Peple trying to learn poker will search Youtube for poker videos. If you have some good SEO on your Youtube videos you'll get hits. Plus Polk is selling his Upswing poker so Youtube has more potential for new customers.

What poker streamers got banned? Any big names?
