PS Milestone hands are a big con

I play PLO at PS and I am fed up with them going on about Milestone hands if as you you have a good chance of being on the table they pick.
Yesterday I was playing when they announced the next Milestone hand was about to be played, I looked and there were 17,000 tables open at the time, so I had a 17,000-1 chance of being on the right table.
Would anyone bother with a bet like that? Of course it would be great to be on the table picked for the 100 Billionth hand but I am not going to chance my playing habits on a 17,000-1 chance it might happen.

I don't see what you are getting at here. They are simply an additional bonus for playing, it's not like you are losing anything or need to pay more rake. What's the big deal?

It isnt an added bonus, there is a 17,000 to one chance of getting anything, thats all I am saying, and PS must make a lot more rake with all the extra tables that are open. All I am saying is anyone who opens extra tables just cos of the Milestone hand is deluded.

Then don't open up more tables. No harm done. If others want to lower there WR then so be it. If anything that should make you happier . . .

Yeah, it's a lottery but that's fine. Also, the figure you see for tables also includes tournament tables, play money tables and HU tables which are not eligible for the bonus so it's not as bad as you think.

i would say, be happy to be have the chance even it is very very small, you dont have to pay anything for it, just play as normally and when your table is elected than have a great opportunity to win quite a lot of money

Lol, it's a free promotion.... You don't need to do anything, there is certainly no con..it's not like they are asking for anything in return, just for people to play the games they normally would. Sure you will more players playing trying to hit a milestone hand, but you say yourself you play PLO anyway so I'm not sure what you mean by the "con" because you would be playing those games regardless of this promotion.

They are giving away free prize money and people would be playing anyway, not sure what you expect ? :)

It is not near as bad as you think it is. They do it so often that your odds improve. It is definitely nothing like a lottery because I don't know anyone who has ever won a lottery and know loads of people who have won money on these hands - including myself.

They are giving away free money - and nobody has to play if they don't want in on it. :p

Heck - I rarely play cash games and managed to get in on one. I was not playing loads just to try to win - I was just randomly playing one night with some a few CC members. Dorkus won the hand and I got a share. Tenbob was sitting out lololololol. (I think he had gone to the bathroom or something).

Yes, maybe I am being a bit ungrateful, I guess any chance is better than none. I stand corrected. :D

Nice of you to admit. Bad beat jackpots are far worse.

This just in, the Stud 8 tables below $2/$4 have a lot of sub par players thanks to this promo. 2/4 seems reg infested.

More news at eleven.

I'm with Colin on this one, for 2 reasons. 1 - I never won one, so I am bitter. 2 - I believe Pokerstars chooses which table is going to get the milestone hand. The millionth hand can't be play money/tourneys/rush hands, so they are doing something that eliminates these hands. Also, from the rules:

Measures have been taken to prevent the practice of speed-folding, i.e. folding all hands in an attempt to unfairly improve the chances of being dealt into a Milestone Hand. Tables that demonstrate little or no legitimate poker being played will be excluded from Milestone Hand prizes.

This is a good thing for fairness to players who are actually playing, but it seems they're excluding these tables in advance. Or maybe I'm just paranoid (and bitter)

Why should play money, tournaments ( which are "play chips" ) be included?
Good luck figuring the payouts in a tournament.
And rush or zoom have an unfair advantage for rake generated.
And we were all forewarned of the rules, so good on Stars. Nice promo.

PokerStars do not choose the table. They put some rules in place to prevent people unfairly winning the hand which people have done before.

Fwiw, for the 100 billionth hand $900,000 will be awarded to everyone playing at the same game and stake that it hit.

You're right, they're long-shots, but about 50 milestone hands are being awarded every day, that's a lot of long-shots.

Imagine what it would be like if US players were on P*'s....
Side question:
If US was still on, what would the average number of players be anyhow?

Agreed, rather PS put that money into something that wasn't a lottery. But of course you have to cater to the fish.

They were investing money and are likely making a huge profit.
Check out the spike in traffic since the promo started.
My computer pasting skills need work I know, self taught.

Like the $million freeroll? Or the added money S&Gs? Or the $1 tourney with $300k GTD? FFS, some people are never happy.

Wish I could play there. One day it will open back up to the U.S. Hopefully somebody here gets a big chunk of that cash.
